You checked the reverse bulbs, too?
If so, then it could be the switch on the gear shift or the wire between that and the bulbs.

Check reverse light circuit, possible switch on transmission or burned-out bulbs. Is there power to the bulb socket when the key is on and trans in reverse? Use a test light to check for power at the connector.

No, if forward gears all work and reverse isn't, it likely is going to be a internal failure.

Well first of all it's a gear or transmission issue, cost some $$$

Do you let the engine RPM drop before selecting reverse? This is really normal and nothing to worry yourself over.

if its a 5 speed, yes the shifting is loser than normal cars. the reverse is all jacked up.. if its anything like my 06 aveo when you shift into reverse you have to lift the little circle thing on your shifter up ad act like your putting it into first.. If it grinds try doing it slower. I HATE this transmission. Chevy did a horrible job on picking it. I always grind reverse no matter what

On the side of your transmission will be a switch with several wires coming out of it. This is your reverse switch that turns on your reverse lights and most likely needs to be replaced
