The best thing you can do is remove the bad one and take it to an autoparts store to see if an aftermarket source has one. Dorman is one such maker. If you have to repair the one you have you will end up having to test the resistance on the rheostat and see if it can be duplicated.

Start the engine and get it up to operating temperature. Take a spray bottle with water in it and spray the vaccum hoses and around the intake gaskets. If the water affects your idle, you possibly have a very common intake gasket leak. That motor is well know for vacuum leaks around the intake gaskets. You can also try spraying carb cleaner, but be very careful with that. Hope this helps. Sounds like a vacuum leak to me.

If you can spray carb cleaner in the carb then you have either a fuel supply problem or fuel delivery problem. Check your fuel pressure and make sure it is in spec. Then check the spray in the carb spray.

Just instaled a holly on a truck idles fine ok throttle responce on park but as soon as its in gear if i just touch the gas it cuts off

With the engine off and the air cleaner removed, look into the primary throttle opening, and then open the throttle, there should be two healthy squirts of fuel from the accelerator pump discharge nozzles at the same time that the throttle is opened, and if the throttle plates open before the accelerator pump squirts fuel from the accelerator pump discharge nozzles, then the engine will most likely stall out.

Also, be sure that the float level is set properly, and with the float level sight plug removed from the side of the carburetor float bowl and the engine running, the fuel should be right up to the edge of the sight plug opening or just right below it. here are some diagrams to help assist you.

1989 Dodge Ram 250 with 318 motor, oil pressure gage has quit working, engine oil is at proper level, someone said that there is some kind of an oil service switch that my need replaced.

you have an oil pressure sending unit located at rear of engine next to distributor. that would cause the oil gauge not to work. also look for a short in electrical wires to oil sending unit. hope this will help!!!

I have a 1952 dodge flat head six it has a stromberg one barrel carb the car has fluid drive transmission I rebuilt the carb and now when you try and start it the float compartment fills with gas and leaks...

Fuel level in float bowl is controlled by the float 'needle' being 'seated' in the seat in the inlet port.Check float level.A rule of thumb is needle should seat when top of float is parallel with gasket surface.Check that float hasn't 'sunk' i.e. filled with gas.If an electric fuel pump has been fitted,it's possible pump pressure is over-powering float action.

Hi, carb. shooting up gas & flooding on 1989 Dodge D50 2.0L mits

also check the float level, if not set to the right height float will cause too much gas to be sent to the bowl. you do this by bending the small tab on the back of the float. one way makes the float shut off sooner and the other makes it shut off fuel later. also check the fuel air mixture no small task on the mikuni carb.
