When you reach down by the brake master area you will feel a wire and a 10 mm head bolt located on the back side of engine near the transmission. loosen the bolt with an extension then remove bolt sensor then carefully push the connector lock towards the end of the sensor to allow the connector to pull off. replace the crank position sensor to repair this issue.. the new sensor looks and fits different from the old one. as always check to see that the recall covering this repair has been done 1st. https://www.nissanusa.com/recalls-vin/

Hello Jk...If your Altima is a multi-coil pack set up, isolate the bad pack by checking with a volt meter for continuity from the primary to secondary leads or test the spark plug leads (with a grounded spark plug tester) at the spark plug boot end. The problem could originate from the coil(s) or the Ignition module or the PCM/EMC but start will the coil(s).

PS: Ignition system failures will not always be logged with fault codes as on board diagnostics are geared towards emission sensor issues.

Check your exhaust system, some bolts used to loose or gone on Altima 02-06. Especially check the bolt close to the joint between exhaust manifold and front pipe. Check if your sway bar rubbing your exhaust pipe.

First of all, you'll have to clarify which belt it is you're talking about. Is it a SERPENTINE drive belt or a Timing belt? Two totally different belts.
If its a timing belt, you're in luck as Nissan Altimas have timing chains on the engines which shouldn't need replacing for at the very least 100,000 miles. If you're talking about the serpentine drive belt on the other hand, there's really only one way it can go over the pulleys. One side of the belt it grooved, and one side is smooth. There's only one way it can go over all of the pulleys while having the grooved face sitting on grooved pulley surfaces,... should be really easy to figure out.

Which one is number one firing order 2003 Nissan Altima coil pack

You didn't mention your engine size. This vehicle does not have a coil pack on either engine. This engine uses "Coil on plug" ignition coils. I am forwarding pictures for the 2.5L i4 and 3.5L V6.

2003 nissan altima the car run hot so i had to repalce the head gasket had the head resurface now cylinder number 3 and 4 will only fire pull coils on 1 and 2 there no spark comein from them then i swap...

Hello! There is a wiring multiple between the four coils of the Red and Black (+12 and Ground) wiring that may have opened up during the head replacement...On Coil #1...Pin #3 is a Red wire and on Pin #2 is a Black wire...It is the same on Coil #2...Using two safety pins...Push the points into the Red and Black wires...First on coil #! then #2...Set your meter to read 12 volts...Clip the (+) meter probe to the safety pin in the Red wire and (-) to the Black...Turn on the key...12 volts must be present...You can check the other two coils that are firing...More than likely those two will read OK...This is a preliminary test to insure #1 & #2 have the proper voltage...Send a comment with results and I'll take it from there...Guru...Saailer

How do i reset my nissan maxima 2003 alarm?

Heat Shield is loose - it's flopping around. Sounds like an engine issue, but it's not.

I had the same problem on a '93 Altima & again on my 2003 Maxima a few months ago. A local garage fixed it for free both times. For the Altima, he just removed the shield. He advised that I do not park on high, dry grass as contact with the grass might start a fire (around here, cars are usually on pavement all the time - the grass thing was not an issue - and, there were no fires). On the 2003 Maxima, the garage was able to replace the rusted out clamp using some scrap material they had lying around. The heat shield was resecured into position. No more pinging.

I had Nissan take a look at the 2003 Maxima repair afterwards. They said the garage did a nice job.
