Locks malfunctioning, clicking noise, and FOB not working all within the day

I have a Saturn Ion (2005). This morning, the locks started to malfunction followed by a clicking noise that sometimes stops or is continuous. I have already unplugged the switches from either side of the door locks, and the clicking persists. I can't lock my car, as the locks just click back into unlock and the clicking continues even after I leave the car with the keys. I replaced the BCM fuse and everything seemed fine. I then got home and shut the car off and the same thing happened. Not so much with the locks anymore, but that constant clicking. So I locked my car, and could not unlock it with the fob. The headlights would blink like it's unlocked, but nothing would happen. I do not have keys to open the doors, as apparently that's too much to ask for cars now. I was able to get the car unlocked with the spare fob about an hour later. What else could cause this? My next idea was to replace the relay..

What's the history on this vehicle?

I believe 2005 saturns had key locks (front door).

Do you know if there are after market electronics added?

    What condition is the battery?

Ive never changed the batteries in the fob. I took out the fuse to stop the locks from tweaking. But the clicking is occuring still, but not as much. As far as i know the battery is in good condition.

Check the fuse panel inside the vehicle (usually located on the lower left side of the steering column in dashboard) and the relays and fuses located in the protective box under the hood. If all of those check out my next guess is that moisture has somehow gotten onto a circuit in the locking system and is causing it to short out.

2007 Saturn ION 3 door locks have no power, key fob has new battery, still doesn't work. There is also no power from drivers door, to locks.

It’s most likely a broken wire in the drivers door. With constant opening and closing over the years these wires break. It’s an easy fix to someone who is handy with wiring.

My power locks dont work and my keyless remote entry is dead will this interupt the pass lock sequience

It shouldn't, they are separate systems. You may need to reprogram the key fob, (If that's what you meant by "keyless") but that can only be done by dealer on that vehicle. If the passlock gives you problems, you can bypass that.

Lock pass system

These need to be checked:

Confirm the latest ignition switch is installed per TSB 04-08-45-005D.

2. Check the BCM PWR fuse.

3. If ok, check all of the door lock and unlock circuits for shorts to ground.

4. If ok, the Body Control Module (BCM) is defective.

All of the following started happening within two days: 2003 Saturn Ion inside lights that normally shut off automatically failing to go off Power door locks making the noise repeatedly like they are...

Hi Guest,
I had this problem as well, and found the fix is actually quite easy. My issue was with the door sensor on the drivers door, but it could be any of the door sensors I imagine. The way I checked was by rolling down all the windows and closing all the doors and locking with the remote, engaging the alarm. Next, open each door individually through the rolled down window; if the alarm sounds then the door sensor is working.
To fix:
First you need to turn off your vehicle. Next, below and to the left of the steering column is a small storage compartment. Open this up and press the sides together, the door should come out. Remove the storage compartment door and reach inside to the left, where you will find the sensor that tells your car if the door is open or closed. Remove the sensor and inside you'll find three pins which have either accumulated grease and grime or have shifted out of position. Clean them off or reposition them so that you have a solid connection and press in the button to check that your lights go off (should take 20 seconds). If the light goes out (make sure you have your dome light positioned to "door") then your problem should be fixed.
Hoped this helps you and others!

2005 Saturn ion . ignition problem?

Your ignition switch needs to be replaced and then your PassLock needs to be re-learned. Very common problem on the Ions.
