HI there, i have a 1990 190e 4cyl 1.8 i think,when i start it the rpm climbs to 3500 and wont come down. the few solutions i found on youtube are not helping, can someone please help?

You should go buy a Haynes or Chilton manual to figure this out. Costs about $15. There could possibly more than one reason for this happening. Anything posted in response could only be speculation.

fuel pump pressure too low.causing lean mixture .

SOURCE: rpm shoots up to 3500 dwn to 1500 up again down again .

scan it check tps sensor.also check for sticking throttle linkage.also check idle speed control.

Had this problem on my 05 Neon as well, Could possibly be the cam sensor. Should throw a code if it is though.
