SOURCE: Looking for cambelt timing marks/ positions please, Twin cam engine Thanks Kevin

these bend valves if belt breaks while running
Align the timing marks on the camshaft gears to the notches on the camshaft cover, using the intake gear mark for the intake gear and the exhaust gear mark for the exhaust gear.
Align the mark on the crankshaft gear with the
notch at the bottom of the rear timing belt cover.

SOURCE: a p0340 trouble code and i changed the cam

Code P0340 is a camshaft position sensor CIRCUIT fault. This means it can be a bad sensor, wiring fault (loose connector, short, open), or even a bad PCM. Since you've already changed the camshaft position sensor you've eliminated that possibility. It's time to do some electrical troubleshooting. That, of course, depends upon your skill set for this type of work and equipment (mostly a good dmm and schematics). If you're not equipped for this then you'll likely have to seek assistance from a local shop.

If this reply answers your question then please take a moment to rate this post. - Thanks.

SOURCE: cam position sensor fault indicated

engine managment light on in civic type r (2002). Diagnostic test showed cam sensors. I paid a lot for these to be changed but light is still on. Garage are now saying it is the crankshaft two belts that need replacing and this is an engine out job which will cost me a fortune. Is what the garage saying accurate?

07 Jeep comparas code p0016

P0016 - Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor A)
*You need to get this repaired as soon as possible!* This trouble code refers to the sensors reading the cam on the top of the engine and the crank shaft in the bottom of the engine. This helps keep the fuel mixture and fuel timing at it's best. The car's ECU is getting a bad reading from one or both of the sensors.

Why does my 2002 jeep grandcherokee with 4.0 i put timing chain on crank it vur it dont line back uo on compression stroke

To test for timing mark alignment you need to hand turn the Crank 2 full rotations when starting at Top Dead Centre. The cams turn twice for every one turn of the crank. There will be a position that isn't lined up because of the firing order.

2002 jeep liberty motor-2.4 chain driven component below crankshaft need to find if position matters and how to time

no photos. so help will limited .
all cam timing matters.
"not sure what does", the cam, crank, sprocket or pin?
The 2.4L inline 4 engine, is a throw back old Dodge Neons
DOHC engine ,a twin cam head.
2002 is first year, Liberty in USA>
is this the 2.4L turbo engine, EDZ engine.??
KJ jeep it is.
be nice to say what job your working? HOw'd you get here?
if you buy the service manual from jeep
chapter 9s, covers this 2.4 total engine, in one chapter.
but this engine cams are Belt drive. NOT CHAIN.
first post that it really is, this engine? or the VIN, or photos.

so you must be confused on that is there.
the other engine, the 3.7L is a V6 engine vastly different than the 4 banger.
it has chains.
covered in chapter 9- page 71 +
this v6 has a counterbalancer too.
i recommend reading the FSM book on this engine , after counting cylinder, 4 or 6? and reading chapters 9 or 9s.

see KJ 2002 here
RTM read the manual

I am having trouble finding the timing marks

If you are doing the timing belt and need to find the marks on the cam sprockets , just google 02 protege timing , than go to images. There is a drawing on page 2 of images.
If you are looking for marks on the main pulley to use a timing light on , you probably wont find any. Most modern cars use cam sensors , computers , and electronic ignition . No distributor = no timing adj.

Why does jeep only go in part-time 4-wheel drive and not full time?

Are you having trouble shifting into 4wd?

Some of the GrandCherokees come with full time 4wheel drive viscous coupling inside of the transfer case and some have teh 242 TC which allow you siwtch between 2wd, 4hi, N, 4lo.

2002 dodge intrepid starting issue new water pump, new timing chain, new belts, good spart, valves are good Can it be a crankshaft sensor?

dear friend-if you are positive that all the repairs were carried out with great care, that the timing is right, and you got spark and fuel, all the valves close propely, then it should start,if the sensor was ok before you stripped the engine why should it be faulty now.
