I have a 1996 Chevy Silverado. My heater went out and when I got the truck back from the shop, my bright lights, taillights and dash lights weren’t working. I’ve checked fuses but still can’t find the solution. Any ideas?

I'd take it right back to that shop if it was working before. You can check your ground connections

If they replaced the heater core, they had to remove the dash and disconnect a lot of wires. Take it back to who did your work and have them recheck their work.

What a piece of ****! The foreign cars don't have this problem, but buy and american truck that they have been making forever and you'll get a piece of ****. Why? So they can take you to the cleaners and cry when no one wants to buy their product! They know it's bad and they choose not to fix the problem! Good buisness practices! They ****!

The dash lights went out on my 2000 Buick Lesabre Custom. It doesn't have the heads up display or remote locks, though they are power. All the other lights work fine, the computer displays work, and when...

Sounds like you have some confusion going on here.
The dash lights and tail lights have always been on different circuits and fuses. So if one set of lights fail, the other stays on unless the headlight switch blows up.
The fuse marked "instruments" is for the speedo and gas gauge, not the lights.
On your car there is an instrument panel module and a dash integraded module which both involve the dash lights.
You may need a shop manual to get the wiring diagrams and test procedures for this circuit.
Another thing - after 1998 most cars and trucks switched from having the headlight switch provide power to having them provide the ground connection.

Have a 1996 chevy cavalier.... all the dash lights keep lighting up and the dinger keeps dinging until you step on the brake....the dash lights or warning lights all stay on or at times have went haywire...

sounds like the ignition switch is shorting out or it has an ignition ground problem. try wiggling the key when it does next time and see what happens.

Brake lights dont work but the other tail lights do

Check the brake light switch under the dash attached to the brake peadal arm. It is wher the break booster push rod attaches. Sometimes that switch works loose.
