There are a few you tube videos around showing how to disconnect the struts and disconnect a few other items. The older models have bolt on axles while the newer 2011+ models have a clip that keeps the axle in place. Just pull it out like a regular c/v axle.

SOURCE: front drivers side axle removal

There's not any special tools. You need a socket to fit the nut on the end of the axle and a wrench to take the nut and bolt off the bottom ball joint that slides through the control arm. Take a bar, pry down on lower control arm, pulling ball joint out, then pull the upper part out by hand, away from the car, slide axle out of the bearing assembly. Take a pry bar, put between trans and axle, give it a swift, quick ****. The axle should come out. Remember to always put jack stands under the car and be safe. Phil

SOURCE: how do i remove cv axle for a 98 isuzu trooper

Go to my profile I have just explained how to change a cv boot on a Trooper. The axle needs to be taken out to change the boot so the same solution. What you call an axle I have refered to as a drive (short for driveshaft) It takes a lot of explaining so save me a lot of writing if you read the solution I gave for changing the CV boot. Cheer's

SOURCE: while in drive, hear clunking and grinding from

It sounds like your limited slip differential is in need of a fluid change.
The clutch packs in the axle require a special friction modifier, about 4 ounces added to the axle lube, which fixes the chattering issue.
I'd suggest someone drop the axle diff cover and check or change the
fluid,to see if there are any big metal pcs. in there. If there is no damage, drain the diff fluid and add the friction modifier, only if a SLD..

Note: Only add the friction modifier,if you have a limited slip differential.
Since I can't physically see your vehicle, make sure a mechanic does
it right.

How do I replace my inner axle on the passenger side of my 2002 Dodge Ram 4x4 4.7L. I lent my truck out and the C clip let go of the CV axle. The intermediate axle spline is stripped and I need to change...

Lift and support front end on suitable jack stands preferably on frame. Remove right front cv axle, stub shaft, and seal. You will need to pull the right front brake caliper assembly loose and place to the side. Then remove bolts from shock and upper control arm and hub nut to do this. Next, remove axle lock actuator on passenger side of front axle. Place a drain pan underneath front diff cover and remove cover and drain axle. In the center of differential there will be an 8 mm head bolt holding spider gear cross-shaft. Remove bolt and cross-shaft only! Push inner axle in until clip clears inside of passenger spider gear. Set clip aside and push/pull axle shaft straight out to passenger side.

In November, 2010 I had the front passenger axle, front hubs and hub bearings, lower ball joints, and the part the front passenger axle goes into all replaced because there was a "thud" noise...

It is very unlikely that the hub would need replacement in that short a time. What you describe as a roar could be a defective fan clutch. The fan clutches in the early TB's had problems. Does the noise sound like a jet engine? If so, it definitely is the clutch.

Removing the front axle

I am going to assume that this is the driver's side axle you are having problems with. If so, there is a tool that is required with a slide hammer to pull this axle from this transaxle. If it is the passenger side, there is a tool that is inserted through the transaxle after the driver's side axle is removed.

1988 Ford Ranger

Well the passenger side axle just slides right out when pulled on. But the drivers side(the shorter axle of the two) has a clip inside the diff that you have to take out in order to get the axle out. Pulling the diff out is very easy, disconnect the front driveshaft and there is a bolt on the left side of the diff you have to take out and then the front cover bolts.
hope that helps

2002 ford focus I need to know the location of a/c valves for recharge thanks

You will find the port on a quart sized aluminum cannister directly in front of the right front passenger tire.
P.S. It is alot easier to access if you remove the wheel and the inner skirt.
