My IOD fuse keeps blowing
oid is there way of saying hot at times,(others use)
IOD, is correct name
ignition OFF, drain
these fuses are pulled when car leaves factory , keeping battery fresh, then put back , at dealer
the are are just keep alive features, (electroncs)
1: PCM ,memory (errors, and fuel trim learning values)
2: radio stations,
3: NAV settings;
4: all the various brains, in system, pcm bcm , tcm , an others)
Allen Turning called it a brain, so he wins, (lol)
all feature on car with LEARN in the descriptions, is this.
IOD fuse.
but you can read the schmetic right> and see what loads connect to your fuse , right? and then pull it and see if current falls to ok.
my guess, (i fix ECUs for years, and lots of controllers) at component level for 50 years. ) the electolytic caps some will go bad at too cold a temperature, good ones go to -40F or -40C (crossover) some china clones of these parts are pure rotten junk.
not even tested, there, they just clone the words, .....
finding which cap is shorting is not easy. (too intermittant, even hard for me with my fancy gear, (i have current logger, i designed)
post the real location of the fuse , a photo is best.
then we look it up
or you do it at alldata.com
(google finds it in 1/10sec)
im hoping its some cheap radio doing this
so unplug it and see.
unpluggin pCM or BCM etc is not going to work, as car will not run.
i think normal current is about 0.020 amps max
ase/sae , averages. 20 mA.
blowing fuse is gross short.
i hope it says shorted,so is 1000x easier to find.
