2005 Ford taurus i replace the Fuel Pump & Housing Assembly the pump want run when i turn the key to on what all i need to check to fix the problem? i look for the fuel pump fuse and relay i can't find it where are they located? i can spray some gas into the intake the engine will start and run until it burn the gas out the intake.
The pump may be defective also check the relay for faults.
Testimonial: "how do i check the check the relay for faults?"
This what I have for fuel pump relay, The relay should be in under hood fuse box. There are two sides to relay, the control side and the switch side, the switch side is that line with arrowhead, left side in relay picture. You could unplug relay, use a jumper wire in cavities for switch side of relay, to see if fuel pump will run? The control side of relay is the right side in the picture of relay, has to have voltage and ground. The top wire on that side is voltage comes from main relay. The bottom wire on that side is chassis ground.
Just to add, you can see fuse for switch side of relay. That fuse circuit is hot all the time.
can you send me another picture of the relay control side and the switch side? the picture disapear for some reason.
can you send me another picture of the relay control side and the switch side one more time? the picture disapear for some reason.
I'm looking at your post and I see the diagram. Just to add, bbbind.com has free wiring diagrams. The past several days, I've had problems posting on this site, f0r some reason.

Besides checking relays and fuses if you changed the fuel pump you had to lower the gas tank if you did that and you are sure that you plugged everything in then there is a fuel pump driver module inside the trunk if all fuses and relays and pump are good and plugged in then the module is burned out or you damaged the plug go to rockauto.com and look up your car and the part so you can see what it looks like it's a black box with a cast aluminum base with 2 bolts and one plug in connection
When you replaced the fuel pump might have set off the inertia switch check if needs to be reset
do the red button on the inertia switch suppose to be up or down to reset it?
do the red button on the inertia switch suppose to be up or down to reset it?
down is operation position up means it popped and has cut out fuel pump
If the button is up the inertia switch was tripped push it Dow till it clicks then try cranking a few times till the pump pressure comes up it should start if not you have my previous answer good luck Stephen
when i check for voltage at the inertia switch on the red/black wire there was no volts so now i need to check for volts at the relay and fuse? if the relay is under the hood i don't hear it click when i turn the key on.
how do i check the relay for faults?
with a multi meter - quick and easy way is to pull one of the other relays [ that has matching part number number printed on it]and plug it in place of the pump one

Check if it has a fuel pump cut off in the trunk. If u hit a pot hole hard enough it will disconnect the power to fuel pump. It's a fire thing
fuel pump cut off is on the red button is push in but the pump want run when turn key on i check for volts at the pink/black wire on the fuel pump cutoff there is no volt why?
Could be a weak relay most mustang's have fuel pump relay in pass wheel well
It should be the druverside module
how do i check a druverside module to make sure it is bad?

Start with the ignition switch and the fuel pump relay
You might of replaced the fuel filter not the pump, the pump could be im the gas tank itself, could be a submersible pump..
the module assembly incLudes Pump, Sending Unit, Float, Reservoir, Strainer, and Seal so i did replace the fuel pump.
the module assembly incLudes Pump, Sending Unit, Float, Reservoir, Strainer, and Seal so i did replace the fuel pump, do the red button on the inertia fuel shutoff switch suppose to be up or down?
where is the fuel pump relay located?
Under the hood fuze box by the looks of it number 29
If the fuel filter is plugged and no gas is going through it then it won't allow the engine to get any gas so check that as well.
if the fuel filter is plugged don't the fuel pump suppose to come on when i turn the key to run?
how do i check the fuel pump relay?

Hi, listen to hear if your fuel pump is running when you turn the key to the run position. If it is, buy a "noid" light to check if the injectors are firing as you crank the motor.
Work your way back or forward accordingly, depending on what you find.
If the pump isn't running, check the fuel pump, relay and fuse. If it is runing, and injectors aren't firing, check crank and cam sensors. Also, the oil pressure sender can interrupt the fuel flow if it's faulty. If both OK, check the fuel pressure regulator......
SOURCE: turns over but wont start
Did you check the inertia switch which cuts of current in case of accident.

Oil pressure sensor is part of the fuel circuit. You changed engines, did the new one have the same sensor?

try cleaning the connector that goes to the fuel pump, sometimes they corrode on inside. If that does not fix, test the wires feeding fuel pump with a multi meter until the condition shows itself again, if voltage drops to zero or very low then wiring problem, if voltage is unchanged with problem and fuel pump is not working and connectors are all clean, try replacement of fuel pump.
SOURCE: I had a pass. side rear blow out fixed that
Have you checked the FUEL PUMP INERTIA SWITCH in the trunk? thats the last place power goes before it gets to the pump. Is the pump recieving power? if not the switch is either bad or needs to be reset.
