It's Part of the PCM - engine computer . Does not have a separate control module for the transmission .
Good morning Danny, the sounds like you got the common problem of ppm getting moisture in it, it is located on passenger side under the hood in cowling area ,you may have to replace it, if you access it remove the connectors clean them put electric grease in the connector try it may work.good luck, mike
Thanks! I have replaced the PCM with a new one and had to have the keys programed by the dealer yesterday. I have to prime the engine with carb cleaner to get it to start up. didn't pay the dealer to check out what is causing this was doing it before took it to the dealer. But. the trans wont shift out of first gear which it was doing this before the new pcm was installed and is still doing it. Thougt the new pcm would take care of it. The mechanic said there is a TCM for the trans that he said might need replacing that's why i was trying to find out where it is located?
ill do more research this weekend see what i can find out for you please give me all the info on vehicle and problems your having ill do my best to get a answer for you, mike
Thanks a lot Mike! First off we had the pcm wet problem which caused the van to stall and the trany to shift screwd up. I found the data sheet on the repair for the leaking pcm and did what it said about silicone the shroud clips and surrounding the pcm plug in . Then the van just started to not crank up until i would spray carb cleaner in the throttle body and then it would crank up. Turn it off and you would have to do it again to crank up. After talking with a few mechanics we narrowed it down to getting a new pcm which was installed a few days ago but the keys weren't programmed so i had to take it to the ford dealership which they did yesterday. Still would not crank up until priming the throttle body. Tranny still would not shift out of 1st but it does sometimes but wont shift further than 2nd then seems to go into neutral . reverse is fine. the van had a new torgue converter put in on the recall a fews years ago. it has 120k miles on it and its a 2005 freestar. 4.4 L. I checked the possible water going into the tranyy plug in on top of the trans and it was dry. no water in the oil of the trans either.

The blend door is stuck or not receiving the control knob information to change the temperature.
Your car uses an electronic blend door actuator. you will need to
locate this devise under the dash. You may have to remove the dash to
get to it. You will want to make sure that there is power coming in to
the new switch and going out to the Blend Door Actuator. If you do not
have power to the switch then find out why and fix the broken wire, if
you have power to the motor but it won't move then replace the Blend
Door Actuator (BDA).
Make sure the black wire to the BDA is grounded. The do the following:
Test the orange wire going to the BDA and the Yellow wire from the BDA
to the switch for postive power. This will tell you if the BDA is
getting power in from the car and out to the switch. Then make sure you
get a power reading from the Red with White strip and the Red with Lite
Green strip, this will tell you that the switch is sending the power
back to the BDA to control the temp. If power is coming in to the BDA
and not going out to the switch then the BDA is bad. If power is going
to and from the switch back to the BDA then that also says the BDA is
bad. If the ground is broken that will cause the BDA not to respond.
SOURCE: where is the low tire reset button located on 2005 ford freestar?
It is on the same button as the Trip Odometer. Cycle through until you see Tire Reset and hold the button down.
SOURCE: changed caliper on 2005 ford freestar and now brakes are spongie.
When bleading the brakes have someone there watching to make sure the master cylinder never runs out of brake fluid or all of your time spent bleading them will be waisted.
