With extensive experience in this model I would say check the fluid condition and level. If the transmission fluid is up to level and red, not burnt, then it is likely due to wear of the clutches and will need to be rebuilt to resolve the issue. If the fluid looks dark you can try flushing it. If I can assist further, reach me at https://www.6ya.com/thericepatch

SOURCE: Speedometer goes to 0 and trans downshifts

There are 2 speed sensors on the transaxle. One is for vehicle speed and one is for trans output shaft speed. My guess is that you replaced the one for output shaft speed.

i would check the transaxle fluid first, if it is fine, I would then take it and change the fluid and filter. if this does not correct it, quite possibly the transaxle is faulty, sorry, I hope that the fluid corrects it for you, thanks

Did you change the transmission filter and gasket as well as the transmission oil before running your truck.

I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When the accelerator is depressed hard (passing or going uphill) the vehicle downshifts into too low of a gear. The nose will dip down and it will rev high.

this is normal for the trans to downshift as the engine and trans are working together to handle the acceleration of your car and as your car's speed increases the trans will adjust again (EG: shift gears) this is more of a weight to acceleration sort of thing or rather weight to power sort of thing

Tranny feels like it is taking off in 3rd gear sometimes falls out of overdrive sometimes it shifts fine sometimes won't downshift any help is appreciated?

I think the 1/2 shift solenoid has failed, making it unable to find low gears. This part is not expensive but is inside the trans, so repair is best done on a hoist as the trans pan has to come off. Change the internal filter too (if fitted)

WHAT IS P2780

you did not ask a question, why is that? just a code.
which trans, regular or CVT? there are 3 transmissions. and m/t
the Trans chapter shows 7 trans. and 4wd options.???
VIN code A,C or G? (tranny code is in VIN)????
p2 is a factory only code.
Downshift Switch Circuit Low are asking how to do all the FSM steps. to diagnose this.?
you reset it and it came back
are there driving symptoms??????????

the set is.
P2779 Downshift Switch Circuit Range/Performance
P2780 Downshift Switch Circuit Low
P2781 Downshift Switch Circuit High
P2782 Downshift Switch Circuit Intermittent/Erratic

the key to understanding the cause is to understand the test.
how is the test done, (monitors) and what does it actually measure.
a real fsm will tell you if the LOW means, voltage at solenoid is low.
or RPM was too low.
see?
and is key to the cause.
i dont have the real FSM, and online shows nothing.

My 99 jimmy with a 4L60E, on a downshift (kickdown) at highway speed or any speed really when downshift by pressing down the accelarator or downshifting by hand the tansmission feels like it's in neutral,...

First off there may be nothing wrong. At highway speed, the trans will shift down to 1st, but you won't feel it. If should feel like neutral. Does it shift normally when your "wide open throttle" from standstill? If it shifts properly in this situation, then your fine, don't worry. How about wide open throttle at say 25mph? how about 35 and 45? anything over that and its gonna feel like neutral. IF your convinced that your passing gear is not working right, it could mean that its out of adjustment, and needs a little more push, more throw, or kinda like adjusting the rod out a little bit further. Adjust your "passing gear linkage" or kickdown as you imply. Second guess would be low on transmisison fluid, filter, and last, the transmissoin control selonoid. Again I suggest its doing just fine, if it shifts down at any speed.

1994 BMW 540i does quick, short, unexpected downshifts

Dear sea_lion42, Friday 2-20-2009 11:22pm EST (USA)

Check your transmission fluid which is usually done with the engine warm and running!
If the tran fluid is low add some Lucas Trans Fluid from your local auto parts store!
The knock makes me believe your low on trans fluid!
