First of all the fuel pump inertia switch is in the trunk on either side of the inside brace and is near the gas filler tube check all fuses first there is also a fuel pump driver module that may have gone bad and it is on the other side inside trunk brace in the quater panel the relays are in the small junction box under the hood on the left side behind the battery if you don't have the manual go to ford owners.Com and register for free then download the manual then go to roadside emergencies and your fuse box diagrams and fuse values are there and you can print it out and also keep it on your phone or computer ok good luck stephen

What you need to look for is the fuel pump inertia switch it is a switch that automatically shuts off your fuel pump if you get into an accident. However due to the design of the switches that's which can be tripped accidentally without a collision contact your dealer and ask them if yours has a fuel pump inertia switch and if so where is the location and how to reset it it's usually pushing up one button fix the problem let me know

SOURCE: Intermittent fuel pump engagement when turning key - 2001 Taurus

try cleaning the connector that goes to the fuel pump, sometimes they corrode on inside. If that does not fix, test the wires feeding fuel pump with a multi meter until the condition shows itself again, if voltage drops to zero or very low then wiring problem, if voltage is unchanged with problem and fuel pump is not working and connectors are all clean, try replacement of fuel pump.

SOURCE: The truck will not start and I suspect it is a fuel problem

there will most certanly be a relay it may not be inside the car as most of the are under the hood in a relay pannel not sure of your model so kinda hard to guess most people dont understand that in newer cars you shouldnt run them out of gas as that is the only lubrication that the fuel pump has os if that is what happened then most likley the fuel pump is out

No volt at the Pnk/Blk wire on the inertia fuel shutoff switch why?

hi,

sounds like you changed your fuel pump.
try hooking everything back up and spray some starting fluid in the intake while turning it over. for some reason ford engines have to be fooled back into starting back up. I did a mountaineer and had no power after a fuel pump change, tried starting fluid and voila.

I reset the button for the fuel pump on my 1999 Ford Taurus and the car still will not fire. Where is the fuse for the fuel pump located and size

To check to see if your fuel pump is working have someone run the ignition key while you listen at the fuel tank of your car, remove your fuel cap put your ear next tank hole and then have your helper turn car on but just so the dash lights up not to start the car.You should hear the fuel pump actuate or hum for a second or two,and if you don"t hear a hum then move to the fuses and if they are good move to your fuel injectors then check your plugs wires and Cole pack. The fuel pump relay is in the fuse box under the hood of the Taurus next to the battery its a black box and is the main power distribution box for your car. The fuel pump fuse is number 10 (A) in the power distribution box. On a 1998,1999 you can swap the fuel pump relay (B) with the EEC power relay (C) to check to check fuel pump operation.the best way to check your car is to use a OBD 2 car reader.hope this helps but you can also buy a Chilton manual if your willing to get your hands dirty and have some mechanical ability you can save your self a lot of money.I believe the going rate for mechanics now is about $105 dollars an hour and thats here in WA.State.
