Could a po178 code cause repeated fuel pump failure on a 2003 chevy tahoe?

No that is a Flex fuel sensor that detects the amount of Alcohol in the fuel and signals the powertrain computer to make changes to accommodate the fuel to the engine controls system. Here are common causes of early failure. 1.Did you replace the connector to the fuel pump? They sell a repair connector, it must be replaced anytime the pump is replaced or early pump failure will occur, the new connector must be soldered on and shrink tubed, no quick crimps should ever be used.. 2. Are you running the fuel down to or below 1/8 tank? This severely overheats the pump and causes early failure.. And lastly what is the average miles you are getting out of the new pumps?

I have the codes are po171 ..po174

code p 0171 refers to system too lean bank 1===causes --intake /exhaust leak---air system---MAF/VAF sensor--fuel pressure / pump---injector/ s---HO2S
code p 0172 refers to system too rich, bank 1===causes --intake blocked ---EVAP canister purge valve --fuel pressure --EGR system---injector/s -=-- HO2S
code p 0173 refers to fuel trim(FT) bank 2--malfunction===causes --intake leak---air system--fuel pressure /pump---injector/s --EVAP canister purge valve---HO2S
code p 0174 refers to system too lean, bank 2===causes intake / exhaust leak---fuel pressure /pump---injector/s---Air system---hose connection/s
I was not sure if you wanted all codes or just the first and last, however you will see that there are some common problems that may help point you in the right direction
1-- is the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) which is the sensor before the cat converter
2--is the fuel pressure , so a fuel pressure test will determine if a regulator or fuel pump problem,
3--EVAP canister purge valve --replace as required
4--intake / exhaust leak --check for vacuum hose failure including hoses to vent controls and check the flexible exhaust connection before the cat converter for leaks
The rest are there to check if you haven't fix the fault before you get to them

What is code p0101/p0300/p0171

code p0101 refers to MAF sensor and VAF sensor--range /performance problems===causes --intake leakage/blockage ---MAF/VAF sensor failure.

code p0300 refers to random misfires multiple cylinders ---causes --spark plugs /HT leads --injector /s-- ignition coil/ s--low compression ---wiring

check fuel pressure in manifold and HT leads

code p0171 refers to system too lean bank 1 ===causes --intake /exhaust air leak---AIR system---MAF/VAF sensors ---fuel pressure /pump---injectors ---HO2S sensor

Basically there are two codes referring to the MAF/VAF sensors so check them out and two codes referring to fuel pressure and pump so have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to determine if pump or pressure regulator.

Ran out of gas and filled it still no start

In tank fuel pumps are cooled and lubricated by the fuel in the tank. When you run a car out of gas or very low, it pumps a lot of air through the pump which overheats it and causes some severe wear and many times, failure when they cool off.
You will need to use a fuel pressure gauge to verify this

I have to prime my chevy blazer to get it to start , it will run after that what could it be

low fuel pressure, change the fuel pump and screen.the life of a fuel pump is shortened often because they are cooled in the tank by the gasoline low fuel levels over time causes failure . try to keep at least 1/2 tank full of fuel this will help.

2004 crown vic two fuel pumps in thirty days

ouch, have power supply tested for proper voltage to pump,also have ground checked. i believe pump is overheating causing failure, Possible causes, 1) insufficiant voltage 2) bad ground causing power surges 3) Inproper ventalation of fuel tank 4) dry run pump (no fuel) 5) faulty pump relays
I hope this gives some insight but we just don't know untill tests have been made

What is causing the fuel pump to fail on my 1987 Nissan Stanza? The mechanic is about to put on the third new pump.

The possible causes are a dirty fuel filter and since the fuel pump sits in the fuel tank and is cooled by the fuel, always keeping the fuel level at low or empty which causes the fuel pump to run hot deminishing its service life.

After replacing fuel pump car still stalls occasionally when turning or stopping,also pump seems to run most of the time and is noisy

Did your also replace the fuel filter. Clogged fuel filters are one of the major causes of premature fuel pump failures. If you did replace the filter then look at the fuel pressure regulator.
