P1259 Honda Description
The VTEC system activates the VTEC solenoid valve by command from the powertrain control module (PCM), and it charges/discharges the hydraulic circuit of the VTEC mechanism that is installed in the valve system to switch valve timing between Low and High. The PCM monitors oil pressure conditions in the hydraulic circuit of the VTEC mechanism according to the VTEC oil pressure switch downstream of the VTEC solenoid valve. If there is a disparity between oil pressure condition in the hydraulic circuit that is determined by the PCM command, and the oil pressure condition that is determined by the status of the VTEC oil pressure switch, the system is considered faulty and a DTC is stored.
The code is for the VTEC(variable timed exhaust camshaft) oil pressure solenoid. If it is a 4 cylinder engine, the solenoid is located on the back of the cylinder head near the fuel injector rail. Most of the time you can simply clean the screen on the solenoid to cure the problem. Also, too heavy weight of oil can cause the system to malfunction. Make sure to use a 5w30 engine oil,Honda prefers Castrol.
Assuming you have the 2.3 L 4 cylinder engine, the CYP sensor [Honda does not call it a camshaft sensor] is located in the distributor. It also has 2 crankshaft sensors, located down at the front of the crankshaft. You need to remove the timing belt covers to access those. FYI, P1259 is a VTEC system [variable valve timing] malfunction code. First step would be to change the engine oil and filter. Dirty oil can cause the VTEC solenoid to stick.
P1259 Immobilizer to PCM Signal Error,, ok, first does the car hic up at around 4000 rpm'? what you have here is possibly 2 things with a honda, and that code just happens to pop up for both,, One, change the oil, and 2, you may need to change the Vtec pressure sensor/screen (solenoid),, its located between the Vtec solenoid and the head,, My guess is that your oil is pretty bad, or you just had an oil change, either way ,, clean that sensor,, it may or may not work, if not, you'll have to replace it
CHECK VTEC SWITCH OIL PRESSURE.SHOULD BE 50 PSI @3000 RPM FOR THE S2000 OIL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 85 PSI @ 3000 RPM. IF OIL PRESSURE OKAY HAVE TO BE EITHER VTEC SWITCH FAULTY OR VTEC SOLENOID HAS FAILED.SOME TIMES PCM HAS FAILED TO THAT CONTROL CIRCUIT.
I JUST GOT A OIL CHANGE,AND MY ENGINE,VS A AND TRIANGLE SHAPE LIGHTS CAME ON,I HAVE A 2009 HONDA ELEMENTS.NOTHING SHOWED ON THE PAPER ONCE I RECIEVED MY OIL CHANGE,HE SAID MY OIL WAS LOW AND DIRTY BUT NO PROBLEM,SO WHY DID MY LIGHTS POP BACK ON THE NEXT DAY?????
is a vtec solenoid valve. it located on your left behind the valve cover . vtec solenoid looks like a round cap. anyway do you have a oil leaks in your car?
