My radio volume is to lowe how can i fix it - 2005 Saturn ION

There are a number of reasons which are explained in the link. The most likely is a faulty volume control, but it could also be high voltage and the protection circuit.

Could be that the potentiometer is not tracking properly. If that is not it, then it is the chip that controls the volume at fault.

If you are replacing the factory radio with this there are two issues that could be causing you grief. First, the radio only has 14 watts RMS power output. This is rather low by standards. Additionally, that is factored into a 4-ohm speaker load. Chances are that the factory speakers are 8-ohm, which will cause further loading. You should consider replacing the speakers with 4-ohm and possibly add an amplifier to the system to achieve optimal performance.

There are a couple of things that could cause this, I will try to explain them the best I can.
First you could have a failure in the power supply, we have seen some capacitors fail in your model and cause funky problems like this. If this is the case you could be looking at somewhere around $175-$200 to fix the set. IF the power supply had to be replaced you could be looking at $350

Next could be the main board, this would not be good news because you could be looking at $400-$500 for the repair (I know this is up there in the price range and most likely getting over the cost of a new set)


Any of these could cause your problem, but it will require troubleshooting to determine the exact cause of your problem. If you have experience, and test equipment and would like to attempt some troubleshooting I will be happy to assist you, however if you do not have equipment or experience then you would need a repairman at this time to get an exact diagnosis. I am sorry that I don't have a quick fix or easy answer for you on this one, it is definitely an internal failure.

I have a 2005 Impala with 16000 miles on it .Every thing works on the radio fine but I have very low volume . I cant find out what wrong

I can give you most of your answer and it depends on the Radio. Ford has a speed-compensated Radio that will adjust the volume of the Radio to the speed of the car. This feature means you will not have to adjust a radio down at a stoplight or when going to a drive-thru.

Then when the car speeds up and engine and road noise increase, so does the volume on the Radio. So you will not have to adjust the volume of the Radio when you drive.

You need to fix the speedometer to get the radio to work correctly. You probably have a sensor connector or the sensor itself making the problem. Go to an Autoparts store and get a sensor and it will probably work fine.

Take the radio out then take apart radio and clean volume potentiometer with electrical cleaner from radio shack. Or just change out radio.

Check the dealer and see if your radio automatically adjust to your speed. Some radios were built to raise the volume when driving at higher speeds and when you get in slow traffic or when you stop it would automatically adjust down the volume. You can also go to a Radio Shack and get a spray cleaner for electrical parts and pull the volume knob off of your radio and spray the volume control and turn it rapidly to remove any hidden dirt on that volume control.

try supplying the radio with a new power line and earth, sounds like the radio power has been taken from the wrong place or there is a faulty earth commection.
