You need to have the computer scanned to see what is happening with the emissions. You may have a vehicle in a poor state of tune or have 1 or more sensors not operating at par. A scan will show a technician where to look for a problem

Unlikely the light itself In the dash is burnt, maybe the harness to the light is disconnected or the wire has been cut.

2004 porsche cayenne i reset computer and now it will not start

Clearing Codes, clears all data, then all the emission
monitors have to run again, or you won't be excepted
to inspection

Clearing codes & data, has nothing to do with diagnosing
why you got the fault codes & fixing the problems

How would clearing a dash light help pass inspection?

Before you got down the street two houses, the light would
be back, the car has a failed system ,thus the light on the
dash after the motor is started.

You cleared all data, now a shop can't even work on it
You removed all vehicle history & codes

Flat bed it to a shop & they will make the repairs you neglected
to do, while trying to get hundred miles before the parameters
on a failed system went out of range & the dash light came back

Need to study OBD 2 Systems on the internet & leave the vehicle
work to the pros

What does it mean when the emissions warning light is on?

Any dash light that is on after the motor starts,
is system fault, that has to be checked for codes
& then component tested.
Most likely a failed Evap System part or vacuum leak
You read your owners manual didn't you?

2004 Sebring failed the emissions testing

Probably not a cheap fix.
The car will not pass the test if the light is on during the test.
The light is on when the computer has a problem that will affect emissions or performance.
You would need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes then fix the problem. Once the problem is fixed and the code is erased, the light should stay off.

I have a 1995 mercury sable 3.0 and it failed smog due to the engine light on the dash board .I took apert the dash board light is ok ,But when I turn the key on the light will light up .But then when I...

It would help to know the state you're located,
Usually the smog test report will provide a brief reason for any failures. If not, the technician or shop should be able to tell you more specifically the reason for the failure.
Have you recently disconnected the battery from the car? If so, your car will fail an emissions test because the computer MUST be operational for at least 250 or so miles prior to the car being tested.

I have a buick park ave 1999 with a malfunction

This is a problem in the circuit that controls the warning light on your dash. I am not sure why you would have failed emissions for this, I would call your BMV and find out.
