Hi! My 2006 Saturn Vue was running great yesterday until I left a phone charger plugged in while I went to eat. When I came back everything seemed fine until I tried to start the car and it would sound like it was starting but turn off instead of idle. I left the key in the accessory position for a couple minutes and it started fine but the map light stays on, the automatic lights entry and locks doesn't work, the instrument panel doesn't work and the power swearing doesn't work. I drove home with no problem and removed the instrument panel BCM fuse so that I didn't drain the battery overnight. Any idea how to solve this problem? I am a single mother and trying to do it myself or as I expensively as possible. Thanks!
My first thoughts are your battery is low on charge, this can cause all of the symptoms except the "no power steering"? Your serpentine belt could be loose, and not fully charging your battery? (also affects the power steering pulley) Have you driven through any big puddles lately? The splash of water could have caused a temporary slipping that will go away...Please have your battery tested at your local parts store before you may be stranded...this should be a free service...wise to remove the fuse for safety...Also check both battery post connections for clean tight fitting...these are your least costly fixes...hope this helps.
Hi I am a GM/SATURN tech pulling the fuse to the BCM which is the Body Control module causes all sorts of problems you will need to take it to a pro that can clear all the codes that set then perform a module programming function.
