So its just the light bothering you, (i ignore mine) I can tell car is in 4wd or not, dont need no stinkn light, so....
is it in 4wd or not? we cant guess that. only you..
the light is hard wired to the transfer case switch
if the switch closes, you are in 4wd, or the switch is bad. end story on silly light. and fuse 10 is the power for that light.
on this car , there is no computer running this light,
im driving on what.? dirt, ice, dry pavement what?
my guess, wild. is car is in 4wd. and you are not on ice or dirt and its stuck, Part time 4wd is for dirt or ice only and will stick.
drive to dirt, or jack up 1 wheel
and shift in to 2H.
fixed now?
light out?
answering for PT 4wd . not
came new with NV231 or 241 and both are part time 4wd, now AWD.

SOURCE: how to replace a jeep tj fuel tank?
I would be really careful with doing this repair as this is very dangerous. You need to relieve the fuel pressure by pulling the fuel pump fuse and starting the truck. Drain the tank with a siphon pump. Remove any exhaust or other parts that are in the way, loosen the straps and support the tank with a floor jack and a block of wood. There are several hoses, and a few wire connectors to disconnect and you may want to replace those hoses while you're down there. Once you put the new tank in, reconnect the electrical and hoses, raise the tank and strap it back up. Put anything else back together you took off the truck.
Personally, I would take this in to get fixed as this is dangerous work (I did mention that). I you do this anyway, use your head and buy a proper container to hold the gas in , as well as jackstands and a class "B" fire extinguisher. Disconnect the battery and don't smoke or use a drop light under the car, and I will not accept responsibility for this.
SOURCE: 2005 Jeep Liberty stuck in Part Time 4wd
I questioned the dealer about my 2005 because mine was disengaging what I thought to be rough compared to what I was used to. They told me that I should shift the vehicle into Neutral before shifting the selector. I have also found that shifting between Reverse and Drive a couple of times while stopped has helped as well. By doing these couple of things, I have had no trouble since. I hope this helps as it might at least be something to try.
SOURCE: Removing doors from Jeep Wrangler - Dome Light Stays On
I have a 97, and my fuse for that is behind the glovebox. Open the box, slide the end of the strap to disconnect it, then remove the box. The fuse is marked. Something like "Dome lt. elim." I think it's located one up from the bottom right. This can actually be done without removing the glove box. For a more permanent fix, quadratec.com has a switch that plugs into the fuse location and mounts under the dash, so you can just flip the switch. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: What does the auto shut off fuse do? 92 Jeep Wrangler.
The auto shutdown relay in your vehicle is controlled by the computer. If the computer does not see a signal from the crank or cam sensor, it will turn off power to the relay which in turn shuts off power to the fuel and ignition system. Unlike those in many passenger vehicles, it's not connected to an impact sensor. (as jeeps are off road vehicles as well as being transportation, if they had an impact sensor, they would be prone to shutdown when traveling over rough off road terrain)
The fuses to the relay are affected by shorting or overload of any components they serve, or by a problem with the relay itself.
