I have a 2003 Saturn Ion. Last night the engine light came on, the power steering went out and I felt the engine drop while I was driving. It was revving high just before. It threw a code u2601. Any idea what caused it? The engine light won't go off now.

Check your owners manual for what that light really is.
could have electronic steering wheel code .have code retrieve. if your steering is a electronic one. if it with power steering with oil it's different.
My power steering went out on a 2007 ion. I took it to a GM dealership with Goodwrench service repair. There was a recall & they fixed it FREE. I haven't had a problem since. That was oct 2011.
frozen, no. the computer did see a problem though, the transmission was put in what is called limp home mode, basically 2nd gear. there is a code that would of set in the transmission computer. have the code pulled and then post the code. more then likely a sensor is going bad.
