SOURCE: computer reads multiple misfires rough idle trouble starting

The air fuel mixture sensor is probably starting to fail. You need to have a simple diagnosis done at the shop and then have it replaced - they are usually not much a reputable mechanical shops. When the motor warms up your air/fuel mixture changes hence the rough idle etc. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1995 Saturn SL2 stalls

look for loosen battery wires, corrosion in them. check ground wire all the way to the engine block make sure its connected right and check ground to the body of your vehicle.

Testimonial: "wires corroded really bad. just replacet it and it fixed it. thanks"

SOURCE: myservice engine light came today rogh in idle at light rpms seem a little high this is a 98 saturn sl2 I think engine is a 1.9

the check engine light means that a code has been set. the code will reference a faulty system that must be diagnosed and repaired. sorry for the vagueness, but there are e gads of codes that can cause the rough idling

most aftermarket parts places will scan the car for free. this will give you an idea of where to start.

Have a 2002 saturn sl2 sometimes when i start it and go into reverse it kills then i try to start it again i have to crank the key a few times before it starts again then it starts.. would it be a o2...

both of those are dobutful but could easily be tested with a scanner. I had similar issues on a 98 that were due to a bad coolant temp sensor and wiring. does the car happen to appear cold via the gauge when it should be warmed up? the crank sensor, ignition module, fuel pump, and fuel filter are also other potential causes along with other things

I have a 1996 saturn SL2 dohc can you tell me why sometimes it will start and then sometimes i will try to start it and it acts like it is trying to start but never turns all the way over

Bad ground will do that. Check battery terminal first, then the second place to check is grounds on the side of the motor where transmission bolts are. Then the starter itself can be corroded right where it lays against the motor, where it is bolted on. This can happen due to too much oil running down on it as well. Last of all the starter can be bad. It is best to have it diagnosised first before guessing at any repairs though.

97 Saturn sl2. Won't start after it gets warm. If you drive it for 15-20 minutes and try to restart it will not engage the starter. Wait a couple hours and it will start fine

It is your engine coolant temp sensor (ECTS). 99.9%. the saturn made them with a plastic tip, so they crack over time. A replacement should be about 15 bucks and not too hard to replace. You'll notice your engine temp gauge not working (always cold).

I don't know much about cars, but here's what happens. When your car is cold, the fuel runs rich. Your broken sensor is always reading that the engine is cold, but when it is warm, it runs too rich and floods your engine, not allowing it to start. When your engine is actually cold, everything is fine.

Erratically will not start or even turn over. Sometimes will start but a few seconds later dies. Next day will start and run fine. 3 Saturn dealers and an independant mechanic unable to find a problem with...

Guessing there may be two issues. One might be "burning and arching" of the fuse box. My 1999 SL2 would periodically not even make a noise to turn over and that fixed that. It also had issues that some electrical components wouldn't work at the same time.

My 2000 saturn sl2 starts perfect when it is cold, once it is warm it idles iradically and stalls. If I cut it off for 5 or more minutes once warm it is almost impossible to start. It has to be cold.

I am not completely familiar with the Saturn car lineup, but I will offer some information for the problem at hand.

It sounds like it has to do with something called a "Throttle Position Sensor". Again, Saturn may call it something different. On some vehicles, the TPS works in conjunction with a module near the cooling (radiator) system. As the car and coolant warm up, a springloaded device inside the module is pushed up allowing it to touch electrical connections. When these nodes are touched, completing the electrical circuit, it sends the information to the TPS telling it to lower the idle speed. If the TPS is faulty, then it will idle wildly as it warms up.

This may not be the case for your Saturn, but it sounds very familiar to a problem I had with a Ford and a Toyota.

Good Luck!
