Sensor codes What do these sensor codes mean & how do I fix them. PO420, PO452 &PO453?

two codes are for an oxygen sensor & the 452 for the evap system

ABS -- is one problem
Possible Wheel Speed Sensor ,but
you can't guess Use codes & other
resouces to diagnose

EVAP System Code PO452 -- may be a
Pressure Sensor issue ,all I have is Low Input
I assume that means high resistance in the solenoid coil,
thus low voltage detected
Again- need scanner & evap smoke machine ,to check out,
unless your guy shot guns common items & gets lucky at
your expense,changing parts

The codes indicate a problem with the fuel tank pressure sensor. One code is for no volts, the other is for high volts. Without a scanner hooked up to monitor. I have to go with you have a bad fuel tank pressure sensor. this is an emissions control sensor. the tank is pressurized and the sensor monitors it for leaks etc. the tank must come out as it is mounted on top of fuel pump module

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank .
3. Remove the fuel tank vapor pressure sensor electrical connector.
4. Remove the fuel tank pressure sensor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the fuel tank vapor pressure sensor.
2. Install the fuel tank vapor pressure sensor electrical connector.
3. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank .
4. Lower the vehicle.

po420--- catalist efficiency below threshold--- possible fix. a po420 means that one or more of the following has happened. the easiest thing to do, is erase code with scanner. and see if it comes back. the engine coolant tempuature sensor may not be working properly, damaged exhaust manifold, or catalytic convertor may be bad. check 02 sensor also behind convertor towards rear. its really hard to say can be anyone off above!! but check 02 sensor first it may be bad.

CODE PO452 IS FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW INPUT CONDITIONS.YOU COULD HAVE A FAULTY FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR.

Code PO442 means you have a small leak in your evap system. Codes PO452 & PO453 refer specifically to the fuel thank.

Although it will be a good idea to change your gas cap, I don't think it is where your problem is coming from.

I would check the vacumm hoses for loose fitting or small cracks.

Specially if you had your car worked on recently.

both codes point to the fuel tank evap pressure sensor. High and low input faults.
Try clearing the codes first and seeing if they come back

You may have a vacuum leak, cracked or open vacuum line or faulty sensor.

Hi there,

These codes are for the fuel system the system performs a pressure test when the vehicle reaches a certain speed for a certain period of time, predetermined from the factory. The Gas cap is the most likely suspect.  Disconnecting battery will reset (and delete) all error codes and clear the check engine light, VSC, etc. idiot lights on the dash.

Post further comments if further you have the same problem....

all of these problem codes refer to EGR valve and emission controls. It may be, if egr was fixed, it would be ok!! take off EGR valve and clean carbon from egr hole in engine and from EGR valve. if egr valve is bad or plugged with carbon then the car will act like it is not getting fuel, it will bog down.
