No fuse for trunk relase in coresonding slot- just a loose red wire

Hi, my name is Jeff and along with being ignorant of automobiles, I am quite computer illiterate also. Please bare with me. I was showing my wife the controls on my 1998 Infinity Q45 I just bought and when we tried the trunk release it wouldn't open. My wife thought she broke it cause it had been working fine. I thought fuse box. When I finally could get my head down by the fuse box, there was NO fuse in it's respective spot. But there is a open red wire with a brass plug on it's end hanging loose. I did take a spare 20 amp fuse and put it in the open slot marked for trunk release and now the trunk opens. But what is that red wire for? It almost looks like that "brass" plug would fit in a fuse receptacle. What should I do with the wire?

The red wire was probably to power an aftermarket accessory like an extra power outlet, extra lights, GPS, etc. Did anything else stop working while it was loose? If not, then you can remove the red wire or tape it up with electrical tape.

The brass plug must have just fallen out of the slot. You did the right thing in putting a fuse back in there.

2012 Fiesta. Why don't wipers and power door locks work?

https://ibb.co/cNnLhdZ
Click on the link for diagram
You can check those fuses at the top, they go hot with key on. At the wiper motor, you can see hi and lo speeds and the wire colors, that's voltage. That solid black wire is ground. You might be able to take wire connector loose from motor, use jumper wires off the battery for voltage and ground to motor to see if it will run? You might should use an inline fuse, just in case. Do testing before you replace anything. Also, the are trouble codes for wipers, manufacturer specific codes.

Hi. we locked key in trunk..doors open and havevalet park key can i jump trunk latch from relay/fuse box to pop trunk lid need color code wire to apply power to..2000 XJ8L vanden plas tks

If you examine the panel where the number plate light is mounted there should be a hidden key hole slot. It will be probably have seized up as it isn't normally used regularly. You might have to spray it a few times with a light releasing oil to free it up and gradually work it loose with the spare key. Don't rush this as you could snap the key or damage the lock barrel. This should give you access to the trunk without having to 'hot-wire' any of the electrics. The fault in the wiring is probably where the wires join the trunk lid from the body of the car so "Hot-wiring" probably wouldn't work.

My xj8 trunk won't open

the normal prob is caused by the wiring around rh trunk hinge broken removing supply to release motor. you have a manual key slot in rh of trunk lid think its in either of the trunk badges or the plinth this siezes up because everyone uses the remote or dash switch but when the wiring fails you cant use the key slot try spraying plenty of relase fluid in the slot say wd40 and gently keep trying to free it off that has allways worked for me when you get in remove the plastic rh trunk hinge cover and repair fractured wiring good luck

99 chevy lumina reverse lights not working. changed bulbs..nothing. the trunk release which is tied into the same harness also doesn't work. don't know if this is related. is there a switch t

This is a failure of the "remote function actuation module". It is located under the rear deck next to the right rear speaker. The rear seat must be removed to access it along with removing the rear deck. It controls the trunk release, door locks, dome light, and reverse light. My remote trunk release stopped working along with the relase button on the dash along with the reverse lights failing at the same time. The module is over $150 so I would try to find a way to rewire the lights to work without the module.

Im looking for a fuse box diagram for a 2001 buick lesabre for the rear seat with the vapor line electrical harness attached

The vapor line will never be inclosed inside of the automobile. Electrical lines YES.
In the rear of your auto you have back up lights, tail lights, turn signal lights, LC plate lights. may truck release switch wire, speaker wires, and the emergency fuel shut of switch. If the vehicle is in a front end/back end accident it will tripe the fuel safety switch. It is a red button located in the trunk panels. GB..stewbison

No Hi Beam on 93 Camry

The headlamp circuit is rather simple. From the 15 amp RH headlamp fuse, there is a red w/yellow trace that goes to the RH high beam. Out of the 15 amp LH headlamp fuse, the wire going to the LH Hi beam is solid red. Both of these wires should have power when the headlamp relay is energized. The wires from the Hi Beam bulbs going back to the switch should both be red w/black trace. The wire going from the headlamp relay to power the 2 15 amp fuses is white. The headlamp switch applies a ground to illuminate either the Lo Beams or the Hi Beams.

Trunk release, interior lights, locks etc does not work

Hi,

To open the trunk, you could try:
1. using the key, push down on the back of the trunk while turning the key. A word of caution and try not to force otherwise, the key might be twisted cut;
2. use the automatic trunk opener (in the glove compartment). You would need someone to press down on button while another is pushing down on the back of the trunk;
3. alternately, there are some models where the rear seats fold down and opens into the trunk.

On the fuse/interior lights and locks, if you have replaced with a known good fuse and problem persist, it may be caused by:
a. corroded or loose fuse holder;
b. corroded or loose fuse block connector;
c. corroded or loose harness connector (unfortunately inside the trunk);
d. defective wiring harness;
e. loose ground.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
