Have you ever replaced the fuel pump relay?

No, I've tried to find out where it is but I am getting conflicting answers. Do you know where it is?

Under the Hood to the Fuse box. Take off cover, then look and fuses lift off to expose relays and larger fuses underneith

SOURCE: 2001 v6 escape rough idle when cold

To update my earlier repair on the 2001 6 cyl Escape: When cold, and when the ignition was turned over but no accelerator pressure given, the rough idle finally returned the P0303 code again when the check engine light came on indicating that it wasn't caused by the plugs or the coil. FYI, I had replaced the intake manifold gaskets during the original repair and just prior to that I had replaced the fuel filter which was very dirty (I cut it open to see).

The repair manual referred to fuel injectors as a possible problem. I have run three tanks of fuel using different injector cleaning products and am very pleased with the results. Cold starts are much smoother and I am unable to coax out the P0303 code or any other code.

My opinion, change the fuel filter, use a fuel injector cleaner for a couple of tanks, change the plugs if the problem still exists. The coils were not the problem on my vehicle.

SOURCE: idling rough in cold weather codes that come up

DTC P1131 DTC P1151 indicates the system is correcting RICH for an overly LEAN condition. The Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) voltage is less than 0.45 volts. This is usually due to a vacuum leak after the MAF. It can also be caused by a bad PCV valve or PCV system hose. It can also be caused by low fuel pressure or a plugged injector.

Start with the simple and clean the MAF and the IAT sensor. In simple terms, the engine is running lean and is being compensated by the ECM. P1131 is bank 1 and P1151 is bank2

Good luck and keep me posted.

Hard starting and rough idle

The idle valve is the most common problem for hard starting in cold weather. I would recommend having it removed and inspected for contamination. Sometimes they can be cleaned out. If it has heavy carbon buildup, you may have to replace it. (if the idle valve is removed, the shutter inside should easily move when you rotate it from side to side and you can also look at it with a flashlight for a visual inspection.

How do i fix 2000 honda civic rough idle and hard start

Change the fuel filter. In cold weather, water in the fuel filter can freeze resulting in fuel starvation. Fuel and air filter should be changed every 30,000 miles.

COLD START ROUGH IDLE

I hate to be the barer of bad news, but may be the head gasket.

My car started with rough idle. Then very hard to start in cold weather. Next started overheating, but no output from heater. Trickling sound from behind dash board. Overflow bottle overflowing.......

I replaced the water pump, radiator cap, thermostat, coolant, fan belts, power flushed the system. Nothing worked. Some research gave me the answer.

The head gasket leak was allowing exhaust gases to enter the cooling system, displacing the coolant. After use, as engine cools, coolant is sucked back into the system and coolant seeps into the cylinder. This gets worse over time.

First thing you'll notice is the rough idle as the spark plug burns off the coolant in the cylinder. (This is especially true at low temperatures.) If it is the head gasket, the other symptoms will follow as time goes by.

Starts fine when cold, after running dies on idle then wont start

Sounds like the fuel filter is dirty and needing to be changed. It's cheap and easy to swap out.
