You can download the FSM and wiring schematics from a few different sites. foxed.ca - not .com use to have them.

SOURCE: I just replaced the wiring harness on a 1988 mazda

you need the original black plastic key that came with the car lock all doors and make sure anything that opens is closed. then unlock the car on the driver door with the key. If you lost the key look in the owners manual hopefully the code on the key is written in there and then go get a new key made at a mazda dealer. Hopefully this helps. Maybe you can help me i need to replace my wiring harness and i dont know where the clear 4 prong plug is located under the dash on the main harness. i already unplugged the two orange ones and the two from the computer i just cant find the lear 4 prong one.

SOURCE: the anti theft light wont go off, so cant start

your key may be bad, try a spare key, if you dont have a spare then your going to have to tow it to the dealer to have a key programed, theres no other way, without the computer to program a key and computer to program module your at the dealer mercy, good luck.

SOURCE: MAZDA CX-7 2008. Conventional key

If it would have been related to other cars key's it would happen every time you would park in a crowded place. No, it must be related to the heat - the antitheft module heats so much that its processor stops working. What you can do is to change the location of the module or insulate it somehow. But it could also be a bad connection that when the dash heats up it gets loose - you need to check the wiring in the dash.

SOURCE: Rx8 2008-My battery was dead

You should have disconnected the battery and fully charged it before starting the car.
The low voltage may have damaged some of the electronic components in the alarm system.
Charge the battery fully, then reconnect it and see if that helps.

2002. Why is anti-theft light on, preventing it from starting?

The most common cause is the chip in the key does not match the security code, or the security module has failed. The chip in the key must match the factory setting to allow the car to start.
If it worked before you replaced the lock cylinder, you need to have a new key with the same old chip cut to the new lock.

Engine turns but does not start, seems like no spark to cylinders.

Your chipped key is not making a good connection to your factory installed anti-theft device. Lightly grease both sides of car key with electric bulb grease and work it into key ignition. Over time the key wears down, contacts in ignition switch become worn and corroded. Grease makes better contact...chipped key is able to send signal to factory anti-theft device which unlocks all systems required to start you engine. Make sure the key you are using is a chipped key for your car; not a un-chipped cut key from the key cutting machine. It will work on locks, but only a chipped key for your car will deactivate your anti-thief and you get power to your engine and systems to get it started.

Need to bypass my factory anti theft device on my 2001 PT Cruiser 5 speed

I believe you are referring to the immobilizer in your key for your car. Unfortunately there is not a way around this factory anti theft system. However most delearships have the ability program new keys for you.

If you had two valid keys that were already programed to the car's immobilizer you can simply buy another key with a programmable immobilizer chip, usually referred to as a sentry key. These keys are available at some hardware stores for cheaper then you would find at a dealership. So if you have the old keys and a new blank key you can follow the following procedure in most cars to program the new key:

1. Bring the replacement sentry key to a hardware store or dealership. Have it cut to match the original valid sentry keys.
  • 2. Place the first valid key into the PT Cruiser's ignition and turn to the ON position for a minimum of three seconds and a maximum of 15 seconds. Turn ignition switch off until it is in the LOCK position and remove the key.
  • 3. Within 15 seconds, insert the second valid key and turn the ignition to the ON position. Wait ten seconds or until a chime sounds and the vehicle security light begins to flash. Turn the ignition off until it is in the LOCK position and remove the key.
  • 4. Within 60 seconds, insert the new blank sentry key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position. Wait 10 seconds or until you hear a single chime and the vehicle security light stops flashing. Look for the indicator light on the dashboard. If it turns on for three seconds and then turns off, the key has been successfully programmed.

    Anti theft malfunction

Heres the skinny....the wire around the ignition switch is actually an antennea for your anti theft transponder system. the other two wires work in conjuction with the anti theft system in that it supplies power to the ignition switch itself when your key is inserted into the ignition. Inside your key is a chip which emits a certain frequency known only to your vehicle.....when this key is near the ignition switch (ie going to start the car) the antenna senses the frequency and the anti theft system powers down and powers up the ignition so you can start your vehicle. Thanks for using fixya! Any more questions shoot me a email!

    Sincerely,

disconnect your battery wait 30 seconds then reconnect and it wll start for sure. if not get a new or clean your old key and make sure it is dry then try again. I have dealt with this a hundred times an think it has to do with worn chips on the keys/bad sensor in the ignition.
