When key is turned the starter is energized by a solenoid that applies power directly from the battery to the starter. Any loose connection will prevent the starter from turning over. The solenoid can also have burnt spots on the contacts inside case that will prevent current from getting to the starter. A click noise is the solenoid energizing so
if all connections are tight and the battery is good the only
other problem is the starter may be bad. Brushes on the
starter may have seen their life ended. this is usually identified by tapping on starter with a hammer while trying to start engine. If starter spins, replacement is needed.

SOURCE: 1996 Saturn SL, 4 cylinder,

Form the saturn..........when starters age they tend to have problems when engine hot.You need to replace the starter.
As for the wagon it sounds like some sort of ignition problem if it's turning but not starting........I have seen o2 sensors cause this behavior. However to be sure you need to obtain an OBDII code reader to be positive of the issue.
Thanks for choosing FIX YA!

SOURCE: 98 saturn sl1 won't start

If the problem occurs after the car has been driven long enough to reach normal operating temperature, the problem is the starter. If the 'no crank' occurs cold, retest the battery.

SOURCE: SL1 won't start, just single click, electronics work

Try charging the battery or jumping the car, your alternator could be shot and not charging the battery.

SOURCE: car wouldnt start replace ignition switch, clutch switch then starter worked for 2 days now starter clicks but wont start left overnight car starter but when turned off wont restart

sounds like there is a dead spot in the starter. i think the other stuff may not have needed to be replaced. when the car won't start, have someone try to start while you TAP the starter with a hammer.- probably the starter, though.

SOURCE: Saturn SC2 Hot Start Problem

My 1997 SC1 would start fully charged after about 5 minutes of cooling off (same as my Busa). If the vehicle draws lots of bettery energy when the ignition switch is turned (the headlights dim as if the battery was week) and all you her is a "tlock" then more than likely the starter solenoid is sticking when the engine gets hot. Age, as well as wear and tear in the vehicle, would cause for the stater, and the starter solenoid, to weaken. When the engine is cool it will start as if the starter was new, but after driving the car for about 10 minutes the problem starts. The engine running hotter than normal (ie.cooling system problems, diferent muffler system, low oil level), no necesary due to overheating, will add to the problem. My solution was a new stater ($115) and a starter heat wrap ($20), and I never had that problem again :-)

2007 pontiac g5 gt just had ignition replaced due to recall now 48 hours later it wont start. . battery fully charged

ignition replaced ???? Ignition switch , the electrical part or key lock cylinder and key ? left switch on 10 minutes ???? That won't work on your vehicle ! Light's lit on insturment cluster ? Car with padlock symbol ,check engine ,service engine soon etc.... The starting system on your vehicle is computer controlled as many fuctions are ! The ignition switch is a low voltage input to the BCM - body control module . Your best bet , take it back to the dealer .

Car won't turn over randomly

When it will not crank, a mechanic would check for voltage at the starter, the clutch safety switch, and the key switch.

95 F150 wont crank

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Good luck.
