1992 buick lesabre- the car idles at about1000 rpm, when I accelerate it is very slow and the rpm hovers around 2000, it will not drop unless I ease off the gas a bit or push it to about 50mph but then I have a vibration during this. After 50mph it drops to about 1500 rpm and seems fine. Also on accleration, the oil pressure gauge reads high, of the chart, and drops down to a normal range when I let off the gas. Once I get to about 40-50mph it stays high and doesn't drop down to normal until I slow down. Just changed the oil. but I think the oil may be to heavy, using 10w40. Any suggestions?
Tak ometer is fine its the odometer
This sounds normal to me! The engine will read that rpm when accerlerating lightly. It is the stall of the torque convertor. The oil pressure will always be higher when the rpm's are higher, or when the oil is thicker - cold.
Virbration? That is a different story. Oil won't cause that.
