I am mechanic I really need to no more make ect. but it could be battery or the ignition switch or ignition lock n key but like I said need more information this is a guess that I told you

My A/T tranny shift lever is stuck in park. right?
and sure, if the brake lamps are dead, that is normal
fix lamps now. or brake switch is bad, or fuse blown.
always check fuses FIRST. always.
or if in great desperation, (can happen)
the operators guide in the glove box told you what to do....

just press the brake pedal then shift the transmission not try to check the shifting lever remove the cover there is a electric solinoid connected to the brake pedal apply brake the solinoid innergize time to shift the lever if not change the solinoid

where do i change my fuse or light volve in honda accord 1999 signal light don't work

It can be issue with gears or problem with transmission and needs to be rebuilt. Also get the ****** fluid checked. If it's low, then such problems occurs.

The shifter needs to be inspected. If The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities.

You have a fault with the steering lock soliniod.Check your fuses firstly then check the ignition soliniod that is placed behind the switch.Hope that was helpfull.

i have same prob... every time i use horn , fuse gone and i stuck in Park...change the brake circuit fuse but still not able to shift gear without releasing gear release button...please help.

there is a switch on brake pedal that tells transmission that the brake pedal is depressed. you can take the switch apart and clean it with sand paper. The contacts inside of it. I would replace it though when you can.
