Turn key, lights work but car won't start it says "service engine

Our Saturn Ion has been running fine. We parked it for about 5 hours. When we went to start it the Service Engine comes up on the dashboard and the car won't start. We have lights but it will not turn over.

    If we wait about fifteen minutes and try to start it again it starts. This happened about 6 months ago and we took it to the Saturn dealer and it checked out fine. Then the problem crops up again.

    battery is new and fully charged. If the battery was weak I probably wouldn't have bright headlights and inside lights. The problem as posted by other Saturn owners is the ignition key

    try to start car and nothing happens. lights and bell works, radio will power up> put in brand new battery. Still won't start from time to time. If i wait it will finally start> I pump the gas a few time and it will start roughly.

I have a 2004 saturn ion that currently got cought in the middle of a flood and now won't turn over the lights and the radio works perfectly fine but when I go to start it up it says service vehicles...
it has go into servise mode. you need to get it checked and have the sevise codes removed. the flood warter would of set this off if the service code was not remover from its last service.

Without doing testing we'd only be guessing ,having a qualified repair shop run diagnostic's on it would be your best bet .

Rigging the vehicle's isn't fixing it . This can cause problems your not aware of. Do yourself a favor an have it fixed correctly

Reduced Speed light and Service Engine Soon light is on..
Proper Diagnosis Requires more info and Visual however If the problem started after your last Oil Change I would suspect that something went Wrong during that Service .
