Headlight Replacement (Envoy)

Lift hood, at top of each headlight assembly look for two L-shaped tabs. Pull these tabs straight up, this will release the headlight assembly. Lift assembly forward to gain access to rear of assembly. There two rubber caps, the top one is for access to the low beam and the bottom for the high beam bulbs. Remove the appropriate cap, grasp bulb socket and turn CCW to release. Unplug bulb from socket by releasing catch on side of socket, install new bulb, DO NOT touch bulb glass with fingers. Reverse steps to re-assemble.

Replacing Your headlight bulb seem to be easy when You look at it, but quite technical. But If You get the proper guide, I think fixing this will not be difficult for You. You will be needing these instruments to fix this(Flathead screwdriver, Phillips head screwdriver, 3/8 inch drive ratchet, 3/8 inch drive 10 mm socket, Replacement bulb(s), Shop rags or towel), then You carefully follow the steps below to fix this:

1. Turn the steering wheel all the way in toward the engine on the side you are changing the light bulb in. For the driver's side bulb replacement, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. For the passenger side bulb replacement, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the off position and remove the keys. Make sure the light switch is in the off position.
3. Remove the retaining clips and screws from the front of the wheel well area, including the bottom splash shield valance underneath the front of the Maxima. The valance is attached to the wheel well and can be left intact. Use the Phillips head screwdriver for the screws and the flathead screwdriver to pop up the center post of the clips and then pry the clips out. Remove enough of the clips to gain access into the front fender cavity.
4. Locate and turn the outer low-beam headlight cover counterclockwise to remove it. This will reveal the bulb and socket.
5. Turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it from the headlight assembly.
6. Release the retaining pin (if applicable for theft deterrent package).
7. Remove the wire harness plug from the bulb socket and then remove the bulb.
8. Insert the new bulb into the socket without touching the glass of the bulb. Reverse the procedure to reinstall.

But if it is the high beams bulb You want to replace, then please follow the steps below, It is the same instruments as before You will be needing to do this job.

1. Release the hood latch if you're replacing the high beam bulb only. Then lift the hood. Locate the two 10 millimeter bolts at the top of the headlight assembly and remove them with the ratchet and the socket.
   
2. Locate the four fascia retaining pins and remove them using the flathead screwdriver. This will allow flexible movement of the fascia to remove the headlight assembly.
3. Place a shop rag or towel between the tight gap of the fascia and the bottom of the headlight assembly to prevent scratching the fascia.
4. Maneuver the headlight assembly forward away from the front of the Maxima. There is a guide pin still retaining the assembly in place so apply equal parts of determination and gentleness to remove the assembly without scratching the lens or the fascia.
5. Remove the headlight assembly far enough to get your hand behind it and remove the seal from the back of the high-beam headlight. Turn the seal counterclockwise to remove.
6. Turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove from the assembly.
7. Release the retaining pin (if applicable).
8. Unplug the wire harness from the light bulb and remove the light bulb.
9. Plug the new replacement bulb into the wire harness without touching the glass of the bulb.
10. Reinstall by reversing the procedure.

Notes FOG LAMP BULB REPLACEMENT - FRONT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Remove the front bumper fascia deflector.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the front fog lamp bulb/socket. CAUTION: Refer to Halogen Bulb Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Rotate the front fog lamp bulb/socket counterclockwise to release.
2. Remove the fog lamp bulb/socket from the front fog lamp assembly.

1. Install the fog lamp bulb/socket to the fog lamp rotating clockwise until fully seated. CAUTION: Refer to Halogen Bulb Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Connect the electrical connector to the front fog lamp bulb/socket.
2. Install the front bumper fascia deflector.

Hi, I have a 2003 Mazda 6 which also has the fog light in the headlight assembly. I'm not sure but I would imagine the design is similar to yours. I had the left side blown and it took me roughly 10 minutes to get the bulb out. The cover on the back of the assembly has a push tab in the centre at the top and two locating tabs on the bottom. I had to push down fairly hard on the air filter side of the top tab while at the same time carefully levering the cover off with a flat blade screwdriver. There isn't a lot of room between the headlight and the air filter box but just enough that you can tilt the back cover over a bit and lift it straight up, out from the bottom locating tabs. Pull this cover right out and then you can see inside the back of the headlight assembly. The bulb has a wire retainer clip that you can push in with your fingers to unhook it and hinge it over. You may have to pull a wire terminal off to get at this clip better.You can now just pull the bulb out and remove the approx 5cm wire tail on the bulb out from it's terminal. Should be able to get a replacement bulb just about anywhere. Replacement would be the opposite only be careful not to touch the glass of the bulb with your fingers as this is detrimental to the life of the bulb. Don't forget to put the other wire terminal back on if you had to remove it. As far as the right side goes, I have never replaced the fog light but I have replaced the headlight bulbs which are also behind this cover so it should be possible. It was a while ago for that but if I remember rightly, I had to use a little mirror sometimes on the right headlight-bit of a pain. By the way, unlike me, before you ever replace a headlight bulb, check that the fuse isn't blown first. There is a fuse for low and high beam for both left and right headlights. I don't think that is the case with the fog lights. Hope this helps you or whoever else.
