I have a 2002 GMC Envoy, it starts missing when gas gets to 1/4

When my gas gauge gets down to 1/4 of a tank my car starts missing like I need sparks plugs but I don't, it never cuts completely out and if I put more gas in so it's over a 1/4 it stops missing. My husband thinks that my fuel pump is going out. I have been told that the only way I could find out was to take it to a shop and have them do a diag. check when it's down to 1/4 of a tank--Any other suggestions

Maybe you are actually running out of fuel ,gas gauge is showing 1/4 of a tank when it is really almost empty . Would not have anything to do with the fuel filter , if it did it would happen when full also .

SOURCE: adjust timing on 1998 GMC K2500 pick up 5.7 liter

It has to be done with a scanner. You can adjust this distributor, but there are no timing marks to watch as you move it. There is a timing mark on the balancer and on the timing cover for referencing Top Dead Center #1 cylinder only, but it is only used for dropping the distributor in to get the engine up and running. A scanner is needed to properly adjust the timing. Connect the scanner and look for a data parameter labeled ‘cam offset’ or possibly ‘cam ******.’ It will be listed in degrees. Start the engine, and bring it up to 1500 rpm. Note the reading. If the timing specification is not within plus or minus two degrees of zero, you need to move the distributor. You can move the distributor with the engine running but the timing will not change. After you move the distributor, the ignition has to be cycled off to let the computer learn the new timing spec. Restart the engine, bring it up to 1500 rpm and see what the new spec is. You must repeat this procedure until you get the timing into the specification as mentioned above. Once you have it set to spec, the code should clear.

I just had this problem on my Envoy on July 14, 2008, I called the guaranty company and they sent my truck to a chevy dealer, after 4 days they fixed. It was the ignition switch.

SOURCE: 2002 GMC Envoy

If your 2002 gmc envoy or sierra will not even turn over with a kown good battery try starting it in nuetral then go back to park and try starting again. There is a park nuetral safety switch that can malfunction. Turn the key on then shift into nuetral, then turn fully to start.

SOURCE: Need firing order diagram for 2002 gmc envoy

one, five, three, six, two, four

The plastic intake should have this sequence molded into it somewhere, and even the corresponding cylinder numbers in front of their respective holes. Have fun, and thanks for posting on Fixya.com

Sorry, I now believe it to be OIL Temp. gauge

This appears to be a follow up of a question I answered earlier. Posting follow ups here doesn't work because each question has no context the the others. You must have deleted the earlier one or you posted anonymously.

According to this, only the 2002 model had an oil temperature sensor.

Your best bet would be to download a manual so you are sure what this gauge ACTUALLY is. HERE it is

Top row: Oil Pressure - Battery Volts
Bottom row: Fuel Tank Level - Coolant Temperature

Bad gas mileage GMc envoy 2002

thats probably what it gets, tune it up, change air and fuel filters, E3 spark plugs, plug wires, what ever it takes to make it run better, drygas in fuel tank, every fill up, (red bottle, has fuel injector cleaner) todays gasoline has 10% ethanol in it, not good for older cars.

What does Fuel Level Sensor A Circut High Input for a 2004 GMC Envoy

The fuel level sensor is in the gas tank, and if it needs to be replaced, the tank must be removed from the truck.
Does your gas gauge work correctly? If not, there could be a bad connection at the tank/sensor or the sensor itself is defective.

2002 Envoy I come to a stop and my oil gauge drop and check gauge come on and readout say low oil pressure and sometime engine shut down. push on gas thimg go back to normal. this doesnt happan all the...

Try a new oil pressure switch first,if that does'nt repair the problem then get the oil pressure tested. If it tests low then the problem is internal and the motor meeds to be dissasembled.

Gas guage-oxygen sensor?

The oxygen sensor has nothing to do with the fuel gauge. There are two possibilities for the gas gauge error, first it could be the in-tank gas level sensor or it could be a defective stepper motor which drives the gauge. A professional scan tool can determine the fuel level being sent by the in-tank sensor, if that disagrees with the gauge, then the stepper motor needs replacing.
