Had a whining noise for about a month. had my local garage check it out & they flushed the power steering liquid & replaced. Did not work, next day whining again. Took the car to a cadillac dealer, they said the pump had a crack in it, needs to be replaced. Had it replaced & the day after it was replaced the whining started again. Help!

Take the cap off the power steering unit start car and slowly turn to right and left to bleed air out of system refill and put cap back on.

drain the coolant.remove belt by rotating belt tensioner cllockwise. water pump pulley will require a holding tool to keep it from turning while removing bolts. access to air ratchet can sometimes eliminate the need to hold but be careful cause thats a good way to skin some knuckles. also make installation more difficult to obtain proper torque. after pulley is off just a few water pupm mounting bolts remain. clean and dry gasket surface very well before reinstalling.

The problem is the wheel bearings that have the ABS sensor attached. Check the computer for the code as there is also an up date for the wiring sytem with a jumper for $60 fix that possible could solve the problem.
