Check Engine light in 2001 Toyota Echo, fault codes PO440, 441, 446
Months ago (prior to 60 K miles) my Check Engine light went on. We've tried changing the gas cap and resetting the fuses, which helped for a few days but then the light comes back on. Any ideas? Fault codes indicates a problem with the Evaporative Emission System.
PO440 - Evaporative Emission System
PO441 - Evaporative Emission System, Incorrect Purge Flow
PO446 - Evaporative Emission System, Vent Control Circuit

try using a quality fuel injector cleaner as the problem may be bad injector operation
if the engine was washed at the inspection , could be water in harness connection or shorting out electronic components
have the fault codes read to check for problem sensors before you panic and waste money
The EVAP cannister is part of the emissions system. Excess exhaust runs thru it-purge flow is when it is released. Check all the vacuum lines going to it. I don't you will find a parts listing for a purge flow valve or vent or solenoid. Your light will probably come on again shortly.
are you talking about the check engine light I have a 2000 echo with 350 000 kms on it and my light has been on for at least 200 00 kms I just ignore it car still boots along and i have only had to change the alternator and battery in it both within the last 7 yrs I had a garage reset the light once but it came on after a while so i just gave up on it it is up to you As I said I love that little beast it just will not die and it still gets me over 40 miles per gallon
You will need a new catalytic convertor assembly. Yours is below treshold efficiency in other words its "no good".If you have it replaced, ask the garage/dealer to give you the old one back. Its worth some cash if its full. It doesn't matter thet it failed. They are going after the mesh inside of it and that is worth some $$$$. May not be much , but better than nothing.
