Stereo is powered on but no sound from speakers
I ran into the same issue... everything was working correctly from the display screen (AM,FM,XM,iPod,Bluetooth) picking up stations, and all controls were working, but no sound at all. I called the dealer and found out there is a reset button that reboots the entire nav/audio system. It is a pin-hole located just to the left of the CD slot on the console. You will need a paper-clip or somthing that size to push it. Hold it in for a few seconds while the system is on and it will shut down and reset. I have to warn you that it does erase almost all of your presets, but did seem to keep my Bluetooth pairings and my nav address book. Good luck!
THANK YOU! Just passed the warranty stage too and all the fuses associated with the stereo/nav system checked out. I was worried the mice that can get inside the cabin got to the wires, but the problem occurred suddenly.
Just had the same problem, and experience with the dealer. Bring it in for us to fix. Used the above paper clip fix and everything back to normal. Saved untold dollars! Thank you.
Frank, THANK YOU!! And to the rest of you. My radio volume in my 2011 Elantra Limited was out when I went to leave work today. I got home and looked at the fuses. Everything looked fine. I got online and Goggled for an answer that got me to you guys! I used the paper clip on the reset button per Frank's directions. Worked perfectly!! I have to reset all my stations, but no big deal. Anyway, I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow and play dumb and tell them my "sad" story. And see if they try to take advantage of me or tell me right on the phone how to reset it right away. Because if they try to shaft me, I'll call them on their ****. I'll let you guys know how that goes after the call tomorrow. Thanks again, everyone!!
Great info. I was having that problem, too, and a reset fixed it. Saved me a trip to the dealer!
Same here thank you
My sound went out on a 12 hour road trip and it was brutal with no music. I was racking my brain, checked a few fuses then I came across your post! Thank you so much!
Thank you SOOOOOO much!!! I have an hour commute daily..life without my radio has been miserable. Thank you! Thank you!
I thank you I drove 60 miles without anything navigation, phone, radio or CD. Found this trick solved the problem.
Thank you so much Frank! You saved me a trip to the dealer's and some cash for sure! To others with the same problem, and it seems that it's common, the reset button is really like a small dot on the plastic, you would never even expect that to be the reset button, but it worked!
We drove a week without sound, took it to dealership and private car radio center and no one was able to solve the issue. In fact, the dealership wanted to charge us $3,000 for a new radio!! Thanks for the tip...solved the issue with a 2 cent paperclip!!!!
OMG it worked. I am so glad it saved me a trip to the dealer. Thank you so much
Hi - where exactly is this little hole? I don't seem to have one!
Wow, so simple!! Thanks y'all!
Frank, you're awesome! Had the same problem and my dealership appointment was scheduled for tomorrow. I read your post and fixed it in 2 seconds! Thanks for saving my morning - and my money!
I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited. This solution worked great! I did have to re-pair the bluetooth for my phone, and re-set the radio pre-sets. But, that was much better than the alternative! Thanks for the solution.
I cannot say THANK YOU enough for this information. This is the 2nd time that I have had this issue with my 2011 Hyundai Elanta. The first time I fought with the dealership (Riverton, Hyundai in Sandy, UT) and it took 2 months for them to replace it. Now here we are 3500 miles/ 1 1/2 years later and it did it again and I was looking at lots of $$$ to fix it or go without because they dealership refused to help. I found this post, went to the parking lot and BAM! issue fixed. You saved me time, money and a lot of yelling! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!
PERFECT! Thanks so much for posting this! We just tried it and now our radio works again.
Thank you, it was that easy!
OMG I am 72 and I tried the paper clip and VOILA!!!Thank u

Awesome! It worked for my 2012 Elantra - thank you so very much!!!
Thanks so much! It worked on my 2013 Sonata and saved me a trip to the dealership.
BINGO! This worked on my 2013 Elantra! Many thanks!
Is there anything else it didn't work for me, do you know any other fixes please I have a Hyundai 2013 accent everything works but no volume
I have a problem with my 2011 Hyundai
Sanata. The horn keeps randomly honking. Took it to the dealership, and I was told the hood is not closing tightly. So he twisted
the screw under the front of the hood and tightened. This worked until, I stopped to
do an errand. When I returned 30 minutes
later, and put the key in the ignition, the
horn started honking again. This also locks the ignition to start up the car.
I also had this issue when I bought the car
in 2010. A mechanic tightened the screw in
the hood, and I never had this problem
again....can someone help?

Frank... You saved me so much time and money. I went to the Hyundai dealer today and they said it was a bad unit and and would cost $4,000.00 to get it fixed because I'm out of warranty...
The reset worked.... Thank you so much!
AT Lopez
Took my 2011 Hyundai Elantra to the dealer with the same problem. They said would need a new computer and would cost $4000. Car has 36400 miles. They said warranty on the raido is only 36000. What happend to 5 year 60000 miles? They reset as has been posted bus said it was a temperary fix, and would need a new one.

I lost all sound on my 2012 Elantra with navigation today while drive into work. I went into my office, searched online and found this solution, went out to the parking lot, gave it a try and it worked. I lost the presets on my AM/FM/XM, but my phone pairing data stayed intact. Thanks for the solution!
I thought i was going to have to pay alot of money to fix this problem and thank god for googling stuff, cuz i was really like wth when i had no sound and it looked like everything was working... pressed the reset button and my sound came back !! :) Thank you so much!!!
I thought it was the fuse, I spend so much time check every fuse related to the audio and all the fuse check out. I was about to give up and figure I will google it to see if anyone else have the same issue. This really saved me a trip to the dealership.
Thanks for posting this solution
Thank you SO much for posting this solution. It worked!!! I too, have a 2012 Elantra. The audio on the radio, cd player, bluetooth and nav system suddenly quick working--1000 miles over the warranty limit. I called my dealer and the girl did not offer any remedies to try other than to turn the car off and back on. She made an appt for me to bring the car in and did state "there might be a couple things they can try". Shame on Hatfield Hyundai in Columbus OH--for not suggesting this remedy over the phone. Instead they were planning to waste my time and charge me who knows how much!
I had the same problem as all the above people...Yee Haw! You saved us all! Thank you!
I have a 2012 Elantra and the radio lost the sound. edge of my pocket knife worked to reset and the dealer in St Louis didn't offer the reset just wanted me to bring it in for work. Thanks so much
OMG!!! I came to the internet to see anyone else had experiened this issue. I was worried that I had unknowingly done something to cause the sound to stop working. This was so helpful and I am so relieved. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thanks so much!! I have a 2022 elantra limited and all of a sudden I had no volume at all, not even sure when or how it happened. I was all worried until I googled the problem and came across your answer. I ran out to my car with a pen and it literally took me 2 seconds to fix. Made my night!!
Thank you so much!! This happened to me today, 3 days before I have to drive out of state. All of a sudden, no sound on my 2012 Elantra Navigation or radio. The paperclip worked! Took 2 seconds to reset.
It worked thanks so much
This worked!!! Thanks!
Thank you so so much!!!!! I had to use a pen, not a paper clip, it seemed like the paper clip wasn't strong enough to do the reset, but I pushed in the pen tip on the reset button, held for 5 seconds, and the sound came back on! Thanks so much, I was depressed thinking of driving to work with no music, news or weather.
I have a system I installed in the car and was working great for 2 years. Today the sound went out and I was terrified that I'd have to go to the dealer and it would be a massive headache! THE RESET WORKED BEAUTIFULLY!!! I took a photos of all my presets and was back up in no time!!!!
It is to the left side top of the cd slot not really a button just a little indentation. I just reset mine, it took 2 seconds. We drove 1 1/2 hours into Nashville yesterday without a radio, not pretty.
Thank you for your help.
Had the same problem with my 2013 Elantra. Just happened. Looked up solution on your website and it fixed the problem! Thanks
THANK YOU!!!! I have visited the dealer today and they told me that only one way to fix my radio is to pay $ 3,970.00. I have no idea why they even did not say anything about this button((( I have tried it and it worked...I have a sound again!!!THANK YOU SO MUCH for your post!!!!!!!!
Thanks! I have a 2012 Elantra Limited and like everyone else, the sound suddenly stopped even though the radio/nav/xm display appeared to be working fine. I found another post that suggested I check the fuses (which I did) but that didn't work. I thought I'd try another search this morning and found your post. I hadn't even noticed the nearly microscopic reset button. I am happy to report that I just got back from my care with a paperclip in hand and a smile on my face! I can't imagine driving without music! What did they do in the 'old days'??? THANKS!!!!
I have Elandra limited 2011 and the sound for everything went out all of a sudden. I researched and found out to reset. Which I did and it restored sound except my GPS Still haven't figured out why this isn't talking. It works but no sound. Any suggestions how to get the GPS to have volume.
where the location if reset button i coudnt find it
The navigation has a separate mute setting. While using GPS click on the speaker speaker symbol on the left of the screen. See if nav volume is turned up or of the mute box is checked. If you don't see the speaker icon then click the setup button below the screen and there should be an option for navigation volume.

Reset is useful! Thanks for your help! https://www.autofun.co.th/cars
I was still searching here just now
Hello Guys, in my elantra 2013 I have this issue but i don't have a reset hole, is there another way to reset? maybe a certain key combination?
Thanks
Another satisfied googler here! Wife called and said wasn't working, took car out this morning with fear to have to go to dealership on my birthday weekend. One quick push with an ink pen later, and presto! :)
This worked for me too. Amazing thank you so much !
It works! Dealership claimed unit had to be replaced. Will never return to that dealership again. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
The Reset Worked Great!!!! Thanks a Ton!!
Awesome. Thanks for this post. Our 2012 Elantra lost sound and this fixed it saving us from the dealer replacing the unit for $2400. However, our Bluetooth is not working. If you try to do anything with voice commands, it just says "initializing voice commands" but nothing happens. Any input on how this may be fixed?
Made an appointment for Hyundai , then I googled the problem and came across you remedy - Awesome it worked !!!!
Called the dealer back and asked if he knew where the reset button was , he has the sats on my car on a computer and says this, well I didn't what kind of car you have, I said please cancel my appointment and thanked for the help. click ( guy was a complete fuktard )
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! I have been driving around with headphones on dreading what the problem could be. I did exactly what you said to do and IMMEDIATELY I have sound... Wow... THANK YOU!!! :)
Thank you for posting this. It totally solved my problem in seconds with no cost!
Thanks a bunch to all of you. My Glenburnie MD dealer said it would take a reset or buy a new radio. Thousands since I have 66K on my 2012. What a rip off. Maybe I need to go back to US cars 100%.
I tried the reset button and it didnt work! same problem everything works but no sound can some1 please help!
As described in answer 1, I was able to reset a friend's 2012 Elantra radio in a few seconds. Turn car on and radio on then push end of mini paperclip into tiny hole at top left of radio. Push clip in to reset unit. Radio will turn off after few seconds. Push Radio power button to turn on and hopefully you will have sound back.
The dealer didn't mention this easy fix when my friend called.. they simply said she'd have to come in so they can check it out. Happily today she canceled the appointment.
Fantastic!! Thank-you so much. We just had the same issue happen and we were at 38 months on a 36 month warranty for the sound/GPS system and the dealer said to bring it in and they would look at it, and I looked it up to really see if others were having this kind of issue and found this post, and two minutes later with my paper clip in hand all is back to normal. Thank-you!

Usually answered in minutes!
Could this be a blown fuse on the external amp?
I took the car to the dealer 2 days prior to receiving this solution. I would have to say that YES this solution works considering the dealer had the car all of 5 minutes and charged me $60. Couldn't just tell me over the phone but had to soak me for money and most likely lie to me by telling me it was a loose wire behind the radio.
i have a 2009 hyundia elantra and my radio work but no sound can anybody help me fix this it reads the cd and my xm works but no sound out my speakers
Thank you, my 2013 Elantra Limited went silent last night and I drive 90 miles a day. This worked like a charm!!
Thanks so much for the fix. The exact thing happened to me today. I was all ready for a trip to the dealer to get ripped off. Tried the fix and it worked perfectly. Had to reset saved stations but heck that was free
That was so simple, yet so relieving it was just a reset button. Thanks for the money saving advice!
Awesome fix.2 minutes tops to fix
Awesome fix.2 minutes tops to fix
Thanks Fixya!! After days of my audio system being 'silent' and the dealer wanting be to bring it in to check it out, found this and it works!! Happy Happy Dance :)
Good info. Mine went out on my 2011 Elantra Limited. Looked at everything and couldn't figure what happened. Called the dealer, they said it is a common problem with the cars. They didn't offer a fix, just referred me to a stero shop. I googled the problem and saw these comments. I just went out to my car with a paper clip and reset the system - all works now and I have sound. Lost my pre-sets, but better than paying who know what at a stero shop. Thanks.
Same for me . a week without radio. I went to see them and they said they did not have anyone to look at it. And it was so easy. No wonder we all have concerns about dealers.
I have a 2011 Elantra Limited, same problem No sound. I pushed in the little pin bottom (few Seconds) located in the upper left hand corner of the Audio System and it worked. Sound came back. Worth losing your presets.
This did not work for me:
I know this has been posted on many sites and I have tried everything. Please note that I took my car in for a 75k checkup, 2 recalls and had to have the intake manifold replaced. Drove it off the dealership lot and it would not work. They tried and said I need whole new radio.
It is only the audio that does not work. The Navigation system works without sound, my bluetooth works and connects without sound, and the radio stations can be cruised but no sound. Mind you what I find perplexing is that through each step I did below nothing was actually lost - no preset stations lost and the clock never reset either nor did i lose any of my Navigation data. What else can I do? What is a good place to look at how the actual Radio/Navigation system work so I can try maybe replacing parts that are connected to audio? Or is something like this is more Software related and thus why it is not resetting anything? I can not afford the $650+ dollars the dealership wants to charge me to replace the radio so I will be doing this myself. Any tips and help would be great.
1. Use a pen to push the tiny reset button to the left of CD player.
2. With the car off, pulled the memory fuse, waited a few minutes, reinserted. Turned the car back on.
3. With the car off, pulled the two multimedia fuses, waited a few minutes, reinserted. Turned the car back on.
4. With the car off, unplugged the three-wire harness (red/white/blue), waited a few minutes, reinserted. Turned the car back on.
5. With Car on pulled the multimedia fuses, waited a few minutes. Shut the car off and turned back on.
6. Removed the negative connection to the battery and waited about an hour before reconnecting and turned the car back on.
7. removed the negative connection to the battery, removed the positive connection to battery, removed both multimedia fuses. Waited about an hour. While friend held the reset button I connected the positive connection to batter, then negative battery connection, then reinserted fuses and then started the car.
If you have no joy resetting there is a service on eBay to repair these amplifoers
I tried just about all of the 7 suggestions above, but nothing worked? Any other suggestions before I take it to the dealer for a new radio?
Ok so how do you reset the radio on a 2017 Hyundai elantra..it doesn't have the hole beside the radio...please help
I have a 2008 Hyundai Entourage and I am in the process of replacing the original stereo/CD Player on it. I am having this problem as well after I connected all speaker wires in the back of the new unit. While the new unit(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGR5Z4R?ref... powers on and works, there is no sound whatsoever from the speakers. I tested the new radio with an external speaker and it worked. The original car stereo uses a 24 pin connectors which has some smaller connectors in the middle which I did not connect.
Any one has any idea what I did wrong and caused no sound from the speakers? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael
