Dear Sir. My 1999 sl2 Saturn overheats whenever the a/c is off. I had the sending sensor replaced twice. I also replaced the the fan motor and the sensor connector but the problem still exists. Can you please help me fix this problem? Thanking you in advance for a solution to this problem. Sincerely Kamal Soogrim
If the thermostat has not been replaced i would do this, also while doing this flushed the radiator system out, is also best to back flush they system, also when was the last time the water pump was changed, as over time the fins on the water pump will deteriorate and cause overheating problems, with a/c it will help keep the engine cooler, but you need to check that the parts ive said have been done as this is the main cause of the engine over heating, you will probably find the thermostat is not working properly and there is rust red water in the system, and rusty parts in the emptied water thats why you will need to back flush the engine youtube back flush engine, top up with new antifreeze recommended for your area and engine. and bleed out the air from system. if the water pump has not been replaced in 5-10 years it needs changing.

There are no cam shaft position sensors in this model. Check your spark plugs and the wires (boots, etc.) I had the same problem. Also a common problem in this model: if it over heats check your coolant temperature sensor. Jack up one side (drivers) of the car so less leaks out when you check it. The ones that come in the car usually crack, use the copper ones.

the coolant temp sensor is located on the right side of the cyl head its small under by the upper rad hose 13mm socket removes it after u take the small connector of,make sure the car is cold coolant will come out when u remove it,,,,check the connector too for corrosion,by only saturn sensor the cheap autozone and aftermarket ones dont read right and give you the same problem as the old bad one

This is a fuel related problem.
Replace the fuel pump.

Your valve body and possibly input shaft nut need to be replaced. The valve body's booster valve is worn down and won't create pressure. Before it went completely out it slammed on the input shaft nut and loosened it.
You need to replace the valve body and retorque the input shaft nut. The transmission is not junk. The above needs to be replaced and change the filter and fluid and do it every 20K miles.
