SOURCE: noisy front wheel bearing

Yes the bearings can be changed on this truck. The bearing races will need to be removed from the rotor to do this use a punch and hammer once the rotor is removed. You will need inner bearing and race, outer bearing and race, and a seal, plus grease to pack the bearings. The hub on these trucks is the rotor. Please rate.

You must replace wheel bearings in pairs to avoid loading the old bearing and, in time ruining your new bearing hub it is possible that you have already damaged the new hub

Hey First thing I always look for is cheapest thing to repair or look at .. Make sure your tires are not cupping .. or make sure they are wearing good and smoothe all the way around .. this can make a terrible noise if they are cupped or worn improperly.. then I would Jack up one side and shake the rear wheels make sure those bearings are tight feeling .. you should be able to tell if they are loose this way ... I dont know how many miles are on your van but usually the drive line is not the problem.. this is probably last thing you need need to shake and see if there is play in it.. Holler if you need more and thanks Jerry

This is what my my brother-in-law says when riding with me. He knows more than I do. One of the shafts for my 2001 chevy 4X4 slips in and out. It makes a humming sound going down the street and makes

Does it make a noise when in 4x4 only? Does it make the noise in 2WD as well? A humming noise is usually associated with a wheel bearing noise. If while driving you steer from side to side and the noise changes pitch or becomes less/more severe it is most likely a wheel bearing. You can raise the vehicle and safely support it. Grab top and bottom of the wheel and feel for play.

2002 trailblazer making loud humming noise when driving

When you turn right - you're taking weight off the right wheel.
If the noise dissipates - the passenger side wheel bearing is most likely to blame.

Thanks

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am and it makes a loud noise

Bad front wheel bearing on the drivers side. When you turn left it shifts more of the vehicles weight to the passenger side and takes the pressure off of the drivers side. Not uncommon but will need attention soon. Hope this helps

Loud humming noise from front end of Durango 4 x 4

You have a hub/wheel bearing going out. You need to jack up the vehicle on each side. Grab the top and bottom of the wheel and try to move it in/out at the top and bottom. If this does not work then roll the wheel as fast as you can and see if you can hear which one it is. Good Luck.
