HI. there are shorts present within the wiring harness. I would recommend replacing the entire wiring harness, if possible. I would also check the actual fuse to be sure that there is no corrosion or connectivity issues within that particular fuse box connection that pertains to the radio unit.

My radio quit work in my 2006 HHR. There is power to the radio. Every thing works except the sound. I get a faint noise out of my front speaker. On hot days, the radio will work, but only on passenger...

Sounds like a loose ground. Obtain a good volt/ohm meter and the wiring shop manual for your model and trace out the wires.
You should be able to find and fix the problem.
Sometimes weather will wrinkle the cones in speakers. Check yours, if they are dried and distorted take them to the parts counter guy and get new ones.

Replacing factory radio

I am not sure what kind OEM radio yu got? sometimes the factory radio is floating ground, you must becareful, do not touch any wireto your car body.

First check the speake wire, use a 9v battery touch the speaker wire + and -to find out which is which and then one by one connect to your OEM radio and turn on and find out if it is a correct side or front and back.

hope this can help you a little bit.
