The pulsation is normal and caused by the antilock brake system, any time the brakes are applied rapidly the abs will kick in and you will feel pulsations in the pedal.

Ok, I was giving an answer based on your statement "I'm having problems with the feeling of a spring or a cable pulsating and catching in the brake pedal when braking" That was the first thought I had, sorry it wasn't what you were looking for

I'll try this again, The brake pedal FEELS like it is attached to a unraveled braided cable about to break with every little pressure to the pedal. Also at times it FEELS like this cable is catching on something. Even though there is no cable in the brake assembly this is the best way to explain it. This feeling of the cable about to break can be felt under your foot. And the lost of stopping is troubling. Does not seem to make any difference if breaking fast, hard, slow, or soft. Thanks

Didnt put master cylinder rod in pushed brake down now wont come back up

The master cylinder has springs in it to return the piston. The piston pushes the rod and the rod returns the pedal. Just put the rod in and it should work

The brake pedal on my 94 S10 goes to the floor and I have no brakes, how do I check for leaks by myself

First look under the hood (drivers side) at the master cylinder. Make sure everything looks dry in that area, especially where the master cylinder bolts to the power brake booster. If it looks dry there, and you know you haven't spilled fluid in that area for the life of the vehicle. Then look under the dash-board (drivers side also) to see if there's any indication of wetness near the brake pedal push-rod (the push-rod is located all the way up the brake pedal's 'steal lever', towards the top) - look where the push-rod comes through the firewall. If it's wet there, or under the hood near the "Master Cylinder" then it's a bad/leaky Master Cylinder. If everything checks ok in that area you are going to have to check the insides of all of the wheels for any signs of leakage near the brake calipers (in the front wheels) and brake "wheel cylinder's" for the rear wheels, unless the vehicle has 4wheel disc brakes; therefore you will also check the calipers in the rear wheels. The only other thing that come's-to-mind is the "proportioning valve" which was common to leak on the S-10's from my experience in the past... Other then that, the only other thing left from what I have mentioned thus far, is broken or cracked brake lines anywhere in the system.

Brake problem.

bleed the brakes again starting form the longest line back to the shortest
if you have been getting a pulsing feeling at the pedal under normal brakes you have warped rotors that need replacing or machining
under normal brakes the abs is not effective and it is only under sever brakes that you will experience the pulsations at the pedal

Replacing brake booster in 2001 escape the push rod in the new booster appears to be too short are they adjustable?

Not that I am aware of. My book on the 2001-2007 Escape does not indicate any adjustment in that push rod. double check the part number against the part number that should be installed by calling another parts store and asking if they have the part and then compare the number they give you with the number you have. Make sure the brands are the same. The problem you may have is that a lot of stores assume that all parts in these year models are interchangeable between the Escape and Mazda Tribute. In fact many are since both vehicle were built in the same factory with very few differences. In fact the repair manuals usually list both vehicles in the same book.

Excursion limited edition. Brake lights stay on.

Check that the pedal height isn't sagging due to low brake fluid level. Also check for adjustment of the brake light switch or the BPP (Brake Pedal Position) switch.

  1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
  2. Disconnect brake pedal position (BPP) switch electrical connector.

  6. Remove push rod bushing.

87 vw golf clutch pedal pulls break pedal when depressed

There is nothing connecting the pedals. The clutch uses a cable to actuate the push-rod while the brake pedal is directly connected to the brake master cylinder and entirely different universe for both of them. I don't even recall it sharing a pivot shaft or return spring.

My brakes lock after a mile or so ive just fitted a new master cylinder and been told its probably the wrong one what the differance between abs an none abs they both look the same ????//

That may be so, but your problem is that you don't have any 'free play' at the pedal and the brakes never fully release. Reduce the length, a small amount, of the rod which pushes into the master cylinder so that it returns clear of the cylinder contact and that you can lightly push on the pedal by hand and feel when the rod makes contact. The free play at the pedal is about 1 inch or ~1.5 cM.

The push rod from the brake pedal to the master is attached to a pin on the brake pedal, the rod is held on the pin with a spring clip.
