2013 Subaru Outback. How do I get the key to turn off & come out that is stuck in ignition in On position?

Question edited for clarity, add maker, toss in a load of CAPS. Question moved to model category. This could be caused by two things The vehicle thinks it is still in gear because the gear safety interlock has failed. or The ignition lock cylinder has failed or the key is worn, or is a copy of a copy, or a bad first copy. https://www.google.com/search?q=auto+locksmith+near+me ..

Is the dome light switch connected to door latch inside of door, I dont see anything in the door frame, so it must be hidden. 01 forester

First, check the following. I believe the 2001 Forester had a 3 position dome light switch. One position turned it on, one turned it off, and the third position enabled the light to come on when a door opened. Not all years had this type of switch. If yours does, check whether the light comes on for each and every door one at a time. If it fails for a particular door, you have narrowed the problem. If this problem always existed for your Forester, possibly the assembly was not properly done. If it is a new event and the dome light switch is in the proper position, there may be a short in the wiring. You would have to test the wiring with a multimeter. Perhaps this service manual will assist: https://servicingmanuals.com/manual/2001-subaru-forester-wiring-diagram/

2000 Subaru Outback. It will turn over but won't catch or start? I can't find a diagram for relay / fuses. Does it have a security system in place?

Yes, all cars have alarms and engine immobilizers. Yours needs resetting, but I wonder what made it become unpaired, key to ECU. Try a reset anyway. https://www.google.com/search?q=2000+subaru+outback+security+system+reset You may need an auto electrician to diagnose the fault and fix it. https://www.google.com/search?q=mobile+auto+electrician+near+me ..

1989 Subaru Legacy. It does not engage gears when computer box is connected and if I disconnect it, it moves with a single gear and I guess it's the 3rd gear?

Some sort of failsafe so that if the ECM / TCM fails, you at least have one gear. You need an auto electrician to diagnose. A professional grade scan tool computer can diagnose in 30 minutes. They are bi-directional so they can instruct shift solenoids to operate and verify that they did. https://www.google.com/search?q=auto+electrician+near+me ..

1997 Subaru Legacy L, automatic, AWD. Dealer says I need a Transfer Clutch replacement= $2000. Too expensive!

Haha, very good. I went to catering college in Birmingham and the station was near the Heinz factory. On Monday they cooked the tomato ketchup, you could smell it. Help in the link, but it doesn't sound like an easy fix. The part is $330. Check fluid, valves and solenoids first. https://www.google.com/search?q=1997+Subaru+Legacy+L%2C+automatic%2C+AWD+Transfer+Clutch+replacement ..

2007 Subaru B9 Tribeca. Why does the illumination lights on the climate control panel randomly go on for a while then go off and so on?

Have you by any chance added any LED bulbs to it anywhere? Climate Control and lighting is controlled by the BCM (body control module), and strange anomalies can happen if none OEM LED replacement bulbs are added to the system. The computer network doesn't understand the feedback caused by LED Control Modules. https://www.google.com/search?q=auto+electrician+near+me ..

Is how to reset the system in a 2009 Subaru outback after ignition switch and key computer change dash lights are not working and fuel pumps not coming on

Resetting the system after an ignition switch and key computer change in a 2009 Subaru Outback may involve several steps. Here are some general steps that you can try: **1. Check Fuses: Verify that all relevant fuses are intact. A blown fuse could be causing issues with the dash lights and fuel pump. Consult your vehicle's manual to locate the fuse box and check the appropriate fuses related to the dashboard and fuel pump. **2. Security System Reset: Sometimes, a change in the ignition system can trigger the vehicle's security system. Try resetting the security system by locking and unlocking the doors using the key fob. If your vehicle has an immobilizer system, make sure the new key is programmed correctly. **3. Battery Disconnect: Disconnect the vehicle's battery for about 15-30 minutes. This can help reset various systems in the car. After reconnecting the battery, start the car and check if the issues persist. **4. ECU (Engine Control Unit) Reset: If the engine control unit was replaced or modified, you may need to perform an ECU reset. This typically involves disconnecting the battery, turning on the ignition (without starting the engine) for a few seconds, turning it off, and then reconnecting the battery. **5. Reprogramming Keys: If new keys were added or the computer was changed, make sure that the new keys are programmed correctly to the vehicle's anti-theft system. Refer to your vehicle's manual or contact the dealership for guidance on key programming. **6. Consult a Professional: If the issues persist after attempting these steps, it's advisable to consult a professional mechanic or contact the Subaru dealership for assistance. They may have specialized tools and knowledge to diagnose and address issues related to the ignition system and key computer. Remember to exercise caution when working with electrical components in your vehicle, and if you're not comfortable performing these steps, seek assistance from a qualified mechanic or Subaru service center.
