air conditioner in 2005 jeep wrangler x

When I turn on my air conditioner the cold air only blows out of my defrost vents no matter what I set the control knobs on. On recirculated air nothing comes out anywhere. I had a car stereo put in last winter but not sure if that would have messed up air controls.

Yeah, I would go up hill or pull away from a stop and the A/C would cut out and then come back once my speed was stabilized. It was a vacuum hose leak !! This mostly affected the upper dash blower fan.

On my 05 Wrangler Unlt'd Ruby - The vacuum hose on the drivers side of engine had come off, which disengaged my Cruise and the actuator which determines whether my heater points to the vent, Defrost or feet. Put it back on and secure with a cable tie.

If it is like mine, you will then have idling problems, especially when coming to a stop. You will need to clean the throttle body because the engine has picked up **** through the open port while it was off. Directions for that exist on this site elsewhere.

All of these are easy - i hadn't worked on a car in >25 years and it took me 30 min.

2005 Jeep wrangler w/rough idle and hesitates when you accelerate

When idling my jeep runs a little rough, it also has a slight hesitation when you go to accelerate from an idle. It has a clean air-fiter, new spark plugs, and only has 39,000 miles. What could it be? Throttle body? Vacuum lines?

poor gas mileage on my jeep liberty

I have a 2005 jeep liberty and recently noticed i have lost allot of gas mileage. down to 200 miles to the tank. My jeep prior to this averaged 350-400 miles to a tank and has drastically dropped. i am an easy driver and easy on the pedal and last changed my oil, air filter and disconnected my Battery which helped out although it has started to drop back down again. My liberty only has around 65000 miles on it and i keep it in tip top shape. what would be the cause of such poor gas mileage? The gas mileage on my Jeep Rubicon is down from about 14MPG city to 10 MPG. I drive the same way every day. It has happened over the course of the past year. The dealer is telling me its cold weather, but I noticed the decline this summer. No engine lights. Nothing wierd - just the decline in MPG.

change your spark plugs if they haven't been changed in awhile. check your tires for the propper psi there should be a sticker on the inside of your drivers door that will tell you recomended air pressures go by this not the recomendations on the tires. also where are you getting you gas does it contain ethanol sometimes this can burn faster.

heater only blowing out defrost vents

my 2005 jeep wrangler, the heat and a/c only blow out of the defrost vents no matter which setting it is set at. (I looked this problem up on-line before and they say that on some models there is a vaccuum hose problem where the cruise and heat vaccuum hoses connect, but I don't have cruise...)

Open your hood and find a "T" connector right near the battery. Follow the line down below the battery (you will have to get under the Jeep). You will see that the line plugs into a 3 to 4 inch section of 3/16" tubing that is plugged onto a black in color, plastic box. Use a razor knife and trim off about 1/2" of this 3/16" tubing as it commonly cracks where it fits on the nipple of the black plastic box. The vacuum cannot build pressure properly with these cracks in this tubing, and therefore cause the selector door to malfunction when operating heat and a/c. It is a quick and easy five minute fix.

What would cause code P1603 to occur on 2005 Jeep Rubicon

What would cause code P1603 to occur on 2005 Jeep Rubicon

I have an 05 6 cylinder automatic TJ. The other morning I was getting trouble codes U0101 and P1603. For a few seconds the Jeep was shaking and for the entire 30min ride it wouldn't shift into the last gear, it would just continue to rev. The next day I drove it and it was fine. I also noticed a slight high pitch whine noise coming from the engine at low speeds. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Did you replace the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter? This code is set by the rear O2 sensor. It usually indicates early failure or restricted catalytic converter. May want to have an exhaust back pressure test performed.
