2001 Cadillac DeVille Questions & Answers
2001 Cadillac Deville. What would cause the water pump pulley to melt on it?
The water pump pulley on your car may melt if the water pump belt tensioner seizes, causing the pulley to overheat and deform. This may also result in the engine overheating and possibly damaging the head gasket. To fix this problem, you will need to replace the water pump drive pulley, the water pump belt, and the tensioner pulley. You may also need a special tool to remove and install the new pulley.

I may have a bad starter. Is there a way to
If it is a bad starter, there is no way to bypass it since this is the only part that cranks the engine from a standstill. Bad starters may just have bad terminals, or connectors or if the motor has gone bad you may need to replace it.

Which one ? do you know ?
The body control system consists of the following 3 modules:
• The Dash Integration Module (DIM)
• The Instrument Panel Module (IPM)
• The Rear Integration Module (RIM)
Each of the 3 body control modules integrate a number of functional systems under the control of a single module. Each module is connected to the Class 2 serial data circuit, many of the control functions are implemented by Class 2 messages.
An after you replace or change one of these modules it has to be programmed .
On vehicles that have several control modules connected by serial data circuits, one module is the power mode master (PMM). On this vehicle the PMM is the DIM. The PMM receives 4 signals from the ignition switch.
To determine the correct power mode the PMM uses the following circuits:
• Accessory voltage
• Ignition 1 voltage
• Ignition 3 voltage
• Off/Run/Crank voltage .
So , what problem are you having ?
Im not sure how to replace or find a compatible
Typicaly the rear speakers are just held up to the rear deck with just a few nuts that go over studs. The hardest part will be getting to them, you normally have to lie on your back in the trunk to see/reach them. Once out you can take to your local car stero shop to get matched correctly for proper imedence and ohms and size.

Losing transmission fluid in 2001 cadillac deville, when check level back pressure pushes fluid out, why?
The transmission sounds like it was over-filled. - you must always check the fluid level only when the transmission is at full operating temperature. The fluid volume increases a lot as it heats to operating temperature, and if overfilled, will come out the filler tube. To avoid seal problems, I would take it back to the mechanic and ask him to remove some of the fluid to bring it back in line with the dipstick markings.

How to troubleshoot air shocks for 2001 cadillac
here's a way to check for leaks assuming your not in minnesota and its 30 below zero.
Fill a spray water bottle with water and then put a teaspoon of soap in the bottle..shake.
Squirt the soapy water onto the air fittings to test for leaks. If the fitting bubbles up, then you have a leak. In that case, tighten the fitting with a wrench, or remove and reinstall the fitting with thread sealant.
Undo the fitting with a wrench. Apply two wraps of Teflon tape around the fitting, then tighten the fitting and test again.
If the fitting still leaks, you may have a cracked fitting. Replace the fitting and reinstall, then test again.
Hope this helps.
