Normally i can get my car to stay on idle but when

What you're describing is a pretty normal phenomenon - the choke is sticking, evidenced by the fact that it improves as it warms up. Are you sure it's fuel-injected, or does it have a carb? If that's not it, it could be one or more of a dozen things - bad plug wires or plugs, dirty fuel filter and/or air filter, bad or dirty carb (if it has one), fuel line blockage, bad PVC valve or O2 sensor. If you have a bad electronic ignition the car wouldn't start or run at all. They either work or don't. Perhaps your problem is as simple as putting in a good injector cleaner like Sea Foam or equivalent. Drop by the parts store and explain. I've found Advance Auto to be super-helpful in diagnosing stuff like this - FREE.

Jeep Grand Cherokee with new belt and still squeaks.

The pulley you describe sounds like the idle pulley and it should be straight and if you remove the belt and turn the pulley it should roll free and not bind. In short I would change the pulley as it has a bad bearing in it.

Have 1996 jeep grand cherokee larado with chrysler

4L is for ice or dirt only. here is the wiki on this boxc In 1996 the NP249 was replaced with the New Venture Gear NV249 transfer case. This added a mechanical differential lock to 4WD Low mode, making it much more durable for serious off-road use. stay out of 4low (unless serious off road)

Ignition does not respond when turning the key

I looked at info for 4.0L engine. Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. In the first picture, check that 40 amp fuse, under hood fuse box, not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage, hot all the time. Use a test light to check for voltage. The diagram for ignition switch, the top wires are voltage going to ignition switch, the bottom wires are voltage from ignition switch with key in the proper position. You can see the wire colors. Do some testing. ignition switch 1-eaga2wvth4qxk4kl1j30kqqo-1-0.jpg ignition switch 2-eaga2wvth4qxk4kl1j30kqqo-1-2.jpg

Hola a todos! Compré una Jeep Grand Cherokee

wow a wall of spanish posted to and all English forum wow. ever heard of google translate, guess not. Here me do you's job. quote Hello everyone! I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4X4 8-cylinder (1996) and a month ago I had a warming problem because it blew up the belt and a pulley. They were placed and after then it heated a lot, practically out of nowhere, so they removed the thermostat(bad act one) (I'm almost always in places with very high ambient temperature, I do not have problems of freezing). After that as at 15 days I started to fail, loses power in the climbs and when the temperature gauge needle reaches half begins to fail and lose power even when it is not in climbs. If I stop 30 minutes, the truck responds well again and I can continue climbing some slope if I need to do it (note that sometimes the antifreeze "bubbles" once I turn it off to give it rest). Do you know what it can be? Marked a problem with the oxygen sensor and have already been changed and the scan no longer shows any other problem. Thank you very much for your comments. end quote, well you did all that wrong the thermostat now missing will cause all modern cars electronics fuel injection systems to go nuts. never ever do that fix the overheat ,trying to hide bad, things, is a BAD ACT. there are many causes of overheating 1 is a bad thermosat, but is now missing the correct step is to replace it.

I have a 96 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo. We

Suggest removing the battery connection and allow to remain disconnect for at least 30 minutes. Reconnect the Battery Cable Turn Ignition Switch to the "On" position but DO NOT start the engine Turn Headlight "On" Turn Headlights "Off" Turn Ignition Key "Off" Start Engine but do not depress gas pedal. To press the pedal it will take several miles of driving for the 96 to relearn the idle. If you do you will have to keep your foot on the gas for several minutes while the jeep relearns idle. So do not play with the pedal after restarting for several minutes. By removing power to the jeep the body electronics and engine control modules are reset. This can fix many of the problems you have described. If the battery is weak or bad cable connections the problem will likely reoccur. Some problems like door electric locks are common failures and are best dealt with by manually operating these functions. 96-98_jeep_grand_cherokee-b034qaxj25qb53lf10uyab4v-1-0.jpg
