When the headlights are not on - all brake lights function properly.. as soon as I turn on the headlights the Left brake light does not work. Have taken it to a jeep dealer and another shop and one told me they could find nothing wrong -- the dealership told me they fixed it but they didn't. Tried changing the fuse and it doesn't help.
If you take the tail light assembly off and take the bulb out, you'll see three metal contacts on the tail light assembly. Pry them up slightly and slide a small, folded piece of aluminum foil underneath it.
Replace the bulb and try to reproduce the problem. I found this fix online and did it to both sides of my car.. no problems since

I need to know how to replace the headlights and headlight lens on a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
One long bolt at the top - requires a 7mm socket to remove the bolt. The light housing will pry out with a screw driver. There are three ball and socket type connectors that hold the housing in and I just pryed off the plastic housing carefully and "balls" pop out of the sockets. Finally, I was replacing the faded plastic housing and it came with a new wiring harness. It's impossible to reach the connector to use the new wiring harness that comes with the new plastic light housing. So just use the existing wiring harness with the new light assembly.

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2WD with a 4.0 engine and auto transmission, I am getting code P1391. I have replaced: camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, spark plugs, gas cap, and ECM (computer). But I still ge code P1391, when driving down the road the engine starts sputtering, pulled over, rev engine as long as high RPM sounds fine, let off gas at 1500 RPM started trying to quit, drove it to have codes checked and cleared, restarted and drove home did code check again showed code P1391, what do I need to do now
I would check to be sure that the timing chain hasn't jumped at all ..

Where is the fuel filter on a 2000 grand cherokee
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD 4.0L MFI 6cyl:
The Fuel Filter is located under vehicle, driver side, below bed area, front of
fuel tank, mounted on chassis in fuel line.

P0340 code. I Changed cam sensor and checked wiring. what else could be wrong? Jeep cherokee, 6 cil
A code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
•a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
•the camshaft position sensor may have failed
•the PCM may have failed
•there exists an open circuit
•the crankshaft position sensor may have failed
With a P0340 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:
•Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
•Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
•Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
•Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
•Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
•Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
•Diagnose/replace the PCM as required

2000 jeep grand cherokee refrigerant capacity (R134a), any common leak points, O-rings etc.
Capacity is aprrox 1.75 lbs with proper gauge (28 ozs). Leak points are many, low side port ,high side port, high and low cut off switches,evap inlet,compressor manifold,condensor inlet and outlet...to name a few.

Which code specifically? Do not assume you need a new solenoid. Our recommendation will depend on the specific code and some troubleshooting results. I usually recommend checking over all the EVAP vacuum lines and the gas cap too whenever there is a purge valve code. Check the vacuum lines at the cannister in the left rear bumper. I will paste info on the purge solenoid below. Evaporative Emission Purge Solenoid
Description & Operation
The duty cycle EVAP canister purge solenoid (DCP) regulates the rate of vapor flow from the EVAP canister to the intake manifold. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) operates the solenoid.
During the cold start warm-up period and the hot start time delay, the PCM does not energize the solenoid. When de-energized, no vapors are purged. The PCM de-energizes the solenoid during open loop operation.
The engine enters closed loop operation after it reaches a specified temperature and the time delay ends. During closed loop operation, the PCM cycles (energizes and de-energizes) the solenoid 5 or 10 times per second, depending upon operating conditions. The PCM varies the vapor flow rate by changing solenoid pulse width. Pulse width is the amount of time that the solenoid is energized. The PCM adjusts solenoid pulse width based on engine operating condition.

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4.7litre V8. Recently the engine started to "buck" intermittently while driving it along the highway. This would happen perhaps 2 or 3 times during a 350 km run. It sort of seems like a engine misfire. It does not appear to be related to engine load or weather conditions. Also I have noticed that sometimes when at idle or stopped at a red light the engine will surge and race up to about 2500 rpm and then drop back down to normal - not sure if related to other problem or not. I have read the fault code as follows: P0320#10 Ignition/dist engine speed input circuit. Do you think these are two seperate problems or one and can you offer any suggestions what I need to replace to fix. Thx, Jim

The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) is mounted into the engine block above the starter motor. Engine speed and crankshaft position are provided through the crankshaft position sensor. The sensor generates pulses that are the input sent to the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM interprets the sensor input to determine the crankshaft position. The PCM then uses this position, along with other inputs, to determine injector sequence and ignition timing. The sensor is a Hall effect device combined with an internal magnet. It is also sensitive to steel within a certain distance from it.
On the 4.7L V8 engine, a tone wheel is bolted to the engine crankshaft. This tone wheel has sets of notches at its outer edge. The notches cause a pulse to be generated when they pass under the sensor. The pulses are the input to the PCM.

no solution just a question say i have two 2000 jeep grand cherokees
being cheap and not sure if the one even works I was going to take the module out of the one i know works out of the donor jeep and install in in the cleaner limited jeep but where is the keyless module installed in these trucks
