2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Rear brake light doesn't work when headlights on
If you take the tail light assembly off and take the bulb out, you'll see three metal contacts on the tail light assembly. Pry them up slightly and slide a small, folded piece of aluminum foil underneath it.
Replace the bulb and try to reproduce the problem. I found this fix online and did it to both sides of my car.. no problems since
A light
it is a sentry key light. which is part of the anti theft device for the ignition for the jeep
Have a 2000 grand Cherokee 4.7, car boiled on me
You need to pressure test the cooling system. Unless you had the heads magnafluxed or inspected very carefully, there could be minute cracks causing the problem.
This is the #1 problem with any engine where boiling takes place due to the expansion power that steam has the capability of producing.
The cylinder walls could also have cracks in them, there could also be a freeze plug that is leaking slightly, causing the engine to overheat as it can't build the proper pressure.
sometimes it's a better move to get a low mileage used motor, than to attempt to repair one that has high mileage and this type of suspected damage.
good luck
2000 jeep grand cherokee, when
Since you have already changed everything that you have, I can not think of anything new that might cause your Jeep to overheat. Are you going by the meter in your vehicle or doing separate temperature measurements? I had a defective temperature gauge that caused me to chase my tail till I did separate measurements.
Misfire smell like firecracker
The smell is way to much fuel in the exhaust and the catalytic converter is overwhelmed, it will overheat and quite possibly start the truck on fire if you don't fix the over fueling problem.
I need to clean out or change the orifice tube on my 2000 Jeep Cherokee
Rather then guessing an just replacing parts , have a qualified repair shop hook up A/C manifold gauges an check the system . Can tell you what's wrong in just min.
(it is only blowing slightly cool air. I suspect it is the orifice/expansion tube and want to know if I can change it out myself or reair it.)
Don't suspect , that's guessing . test don't guess . Are the A/C pipes going in through the fire wall cold ,have ice on them when A/C is on ?
When i start my jeep
Your only problem friend, is the temperature sending unit/sensor. Upon cold start, this sensor wil tell the computer to go into cold start mode putting a bit more fuel in and raising the idle a bit to keep it running when cold without using the throttle. Replace that sensor and your good to go. Makes sense, right?
