1996 dodge avenger, sloppy gear shift
My personal suggestion would be to go for these repair catalogs. I know this website www.reliable-store com
that i used to buy them from, and they have pdf online it was very good manual. Go ahead, I bet.
How re-set window motor
If they are automatic windows flick the window switch diwn , up and and hold it up for about 10-15 seconds. I don't think it takes that long and you might only have to go up and down once but that way will make sure you got it.

Why is my transmission slipping?
these cars have speed sensors on the side of the transmission that tell the transmission when to shift...check these ...you may have 1 or two...have them replaced....this also may have set off a check engine light....good luck
Shifting, power steering and ignition problems?
I would be going to the source of a possible problem and that is the battery. If the battery posts and terminals are dirty ( should be shiny clean) or loose then intermittent connections will cause your problems . If there is a broken bridge in the battery it will give the same indication ( have a load test done on the battery to eliminate it from the possible problems). Run the fault codes and if there is a problem in the ECM /TCM or wiring there will be a code to indicate that.
Car will not idle
Check/clean AIS< IAC motor. AIS= automatic idle speed.
IAC= Idle Air Control . Same part, different names.
