Passat 97 need to re-enter code ( 4 ) digit, however it shows the number 2 on the on screen when the radio is turned on.
Help. I need to know the steps to reset. thanks

• Hi, I can help.

• This is a common problem with Passat's. I see you checked your fuses and relays so we will move on from that.

• You have a CCM Comfort Control Module in your car. This is a junction box of sorts that had the wiring for your electronics spidered through it. The placing of this was a real bad design because of it placement it gets water damage and the wires break etc.

• With the symptoms you are telling me I would bet this is your problem. It almost always is with the Passat.

• If there is any water underneath or any hints of water having been around the are then the CCM might need to be replaced. Check for broken wires etc loose connectors etc.

Open the drivers side door. There is a panel that the door covers when it is closed. The fuse box is behind that plastic cover.

Sounds like blown head gasket soery

Looks like a blinker relay stuck.

Check the wires and connections.

It sounds like they are in the "service position" If memory serves correctly do this to get them out of the service position:Service position To get into service position:

• After you turn your car off, tap the wiper stalk down. The wipers will move into the service position.

To get out of service position:

• To move the wipers back, switch on the ignition and tap the wiper stalk down.

if following directions on a procedure is difficult , get it to a radiator specialist shop and have it done for you

The ecu has to be exactly the same.
