Over heating problem
Check the oil dipstick. Some older GM engines have a history of headgaskets. This will be evendent if there is antifreeze mixing with your oil. Has the thermostat ever been changed? Or the waterpump?

Hi check it out. You may need to replace your speed sensor. I was having the same problems a year ago and my speed sensors finally went all the way out. Now my light doesnt come on anymore and the car runs better.

wd40 first easiest fixremove steering wheel to see what is binding inside.unhook small rod going to ignition switch to eliminate switch as a problem.check ignition switch to see if it is loose. tighten as necessary.

If you have a electronic dash you can turn your car over 5 times without starting it and it will give you the codes. This sounds like possible vacuum hose,distributor cap wires and plugs. Hope this helps.
Pontiac 6000 steering wheel removal
Buy a 10 or 12 dollar steering wheel removal tool from a parts store. Kind of like a gear puller, but designed for steering wheel removal. Pulls them right off. The nut you took off makes the wheel a press fit when tightened, and not easy to get off without the puller.Good luck.

check the plugs because if they are worn enough it can cause this type of problem.also have the fuel pressure and volume checked as if these are not in spec then it also can cause this.the throttle position sensor(tps)if it has a bad spot in it can create this as well.there is a map sensor that can have an effect on how a car runs.
