They sold you a turn-indicator relay!!!! (Sorry- sick joke) ;) The ticking noise you hear will be the relay contacts repeatedly closing and opening, like somebody flicking the lights on and off. This should not happen. Have somebody check your on-board computer and wiring. Does this help you?

Richard, a 93 BMW 325i has timing chain and not a belt. Unless it has been absolutely neglected in terms of oil changes, the chain should last 2-300k miles

Starting fluid is very bad for gasoline engines.. never use it .. just spray a little gasoline in to test .. The fuel pump is controlled by a relay in the fuse box.. the relay is controlled by the computer. open the fuse box.. fues bix is Under your hood.. put your hand on the relays and have someone turn the key to on.. you are looking for one of these relays to click than click again in about 2 seconds this relay in the start function runs the pumps for a short time to prime and pressurise the fuel system. After the engine startrs the relay will come on and make the pumps run. If the relay does not click after the ign is turned on then it is missing the single from the computer turning it on. If you spray in a little gas and the engine still will not fire.. there is a possibilty that you are not getting spark to your plugs.... The first thing to check is to see if all the fuses are good. you can remove them and check them visually or use a volt meter to check them in place. The cover for the fuse box has a list of the location and purpose of each fuse.. I suggest if you are going to work on this car.. go to Rockauto.com and buy the Chilton manual. Before you tale anything apart take pictures so yyou will know how to reassemble.. by the way you get at the fuel pumps from under the rear seat. you can remove the seat bottom and see if the pumps are running by listening for them. another thing possibly you should remove the fuel filter and make sure it is not clogged up. its under the car.

Try resetting your inertial safety switch (especially if the car was bumped or in an accident recently).

probably the vent in front of the blower motor lose, check that first.

sounds like no spark so check for spark at plugs if no spark check for low tension feed to coil/distributer if have low tension power which i would think you will then its a new coil pack/distributer if all these are ok then check for fuel to injection system ,remove a plug turn engine over and look/smell for fuel coming out of plug port let me know how this goes

Replace fuel pump.
