sounds like trans cooler in radiator has breached leaking coolant into trans and trans into coolant.i know for sure that nissan extended the warranty on radiator for this problem.i am not sure the mileage and time limits.but if you fall within those limits they should also warrant the trans as this would be the source of failure(collateral damage).good luck and remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease!1-800-nissan1.ecm relay would not be a contributing factor.

2006 Nissan Pathfinder. I was driving my vehicle when I heard a sound like a spring popped and it hit the pavement and sound like metal but I could not find anything in the road. It still drives.

Get the suspension springs checked. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface with no-one in it. Stand back and carefully look at the vehicle. Sometimes when a spring fails the vehicle will lean towards the broken side. The tail ends of the spring can break off when they are old and the broken bits don't always fall out when it happens. The stall could be something separate. Do you have any warning lights on the dash? If the charcoal canister is starting to fail it often causes the check engine light to turn on as it will affect the emissions. This will trigger other engine sensors to flag up a trouble code.

Dear An, Underneath and behind the dashboard are the parts of the car that are giving you problems. They are inside a black plastic box that has all the air conditioning and heating apparatus. It is quite likely you have a "sticking flap" inside the air passage vents, or something in that order. When it is taken apart, it is likely you will see the problem. Shops often charge higher process for this repair, as it is complicated and time consuming. God bless your efforts.

replace the valve and you may also need water separator kit installed, to removed moisture, which gets installed by the vent valve. Nissan has technical service bulletin on this one.

I am guessing the idle air valve isn't operating because it is either stuck, defective or not receiving signals causing it to adjust or maintain the idle speed.

I have just ordered a new caravan with a ball weight of 175kg. do I need a weight distribution hitch?

A question often ask and much disregarded although the tow bar weight is within limits the load distribution bars ( torque bars -stabilizer bars --sway bars etc) not only help distribute the load but act in such a way as to stop the trailer /caravan for developing the sway that tends to make the driver loose control at speed they also , when properly adjusted, keep the ride height of the towing vehicle level and that improves stability remember that although the bar weight is 175 kgs that amounts to a load of 525kgs over the rear axle or extra 525 kgs on the rear tires ( mass multiplied by distance from drive axle or rear wheels assuming the distance from the axle/tires to the tow ball is i meter---heavier if the bar is further back from the tires ) to use the distribution bars lifts that weight off the rear axle and places more of the load on the trailer wheels As a result the car / trailer combination is much safer to operate than without the bars
