I was told by the Ford dealership that I had to replace the entire radio. This is also happening with my Ford Fusion (2007). I opted not to replace w/ the same radio because what if it happens again?? My lights came back after some time, but who knows how long they will last.

The PCM in my 2006 Ford Fusion is below the battery against the firewall.

You will need to remove the bracket holding the battery, the battery, and the tray that the battery rests on.

The PCM is held to the firewall with 4 bolts and I believe they are 10mm. Remove plugs and unbolt.

Have you tried opening the boot with the key & climbing through? Some models will open via the key in the boot lock.. If this doesn't work I'd call a locksmith to come & open the door legally by getting in with a special tool, without the need to break the window, hope this helps....

Some do not kick in untill it detects wheel spin.

You must disconnect the battery negative (-) cable and wait at least 10 minutes before attempting to unbolt the airbag.

You need to have a ford dealer run a power balance test and also see if the coil is getting a signal to fire, this would be wiring issue or a PCM problem.

Do the diagnostics on the fault code first. You have the Ford emissions system Troubleshooting repair manual correct? If not try eBay for that and a wiring diagram booklet called the Ford Vacuum and Electrical Troubleshooting guide.

Do the other windows work ok? There might be something wrong with window motor, itself? With most vehicles, the driver door window is rolled up and down much more than the others.

If it is a belt.... there is only one serpentine belt. Does it go away after it warms up? In the 90's Ford had a problem with the EGR valves that would "hoot" until it warmed up.
